Splash Mountain

While riding Splash Mountain the other day, the folks behind me had said that they could easily turn Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Frog attraction. I'm not so sure I like that idea. Mainly because the attraction is in Frontierland and Princess and the Frog don't really fit into Frontierland very well. That would be a major overhaul for the attraction and I don't think Disney would do that. Also it is a classic attraction that most folks love. I feel like there would be terrible backlash for it just like there has been for what's going on over at Epcot in the Norway Pavilion.

What do you guys think about the idea of turning Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Frog attraction?

Please note that is what another guest said and Disney currently doesn't have any plans to change Splash Mountain.

Silly idea. But people are free to think even if it is silly.

Well, Splash Mountain doesn't really fit the Frontierland theme, either, bu it fits a lot better than the Princess and the Frog. If they're ever going to make an attraction based on that movie, it needs to be in the New Orleans section at Disneyland (but not replacing Pirates, no freaking way!).

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Not Splash Mountain! As much as I like Princess in the Frog, I don't know if it got enough of a fan following (at least not in the way Frozen did) that Disney would warrant changing a major attraction to retheme it to the movie.

Classic story, wonderful music, a little thrill element. To me anyway, it's untouchable. Nobody's knockin down the doors to get a P&F ride anyway. Except Phineas & Ferb.

It wouldn't make any sense. New Orleans and the bayou has no correlation to the Western themed Frontierland. There were rumors about a Princess and Frog themed restaurant taking place in Adventureland which made no logical sense either. Thankfully it was quashed with the Jungle Cruise themed eatery.

The Frozen ride, while the story does not technically take place in Norway, there are elements of Norway in their story. It's the whole "square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square" argument.

Like I said, this was overheard from other guests. I don't think Disney is changing Splash Mountain. Just wanted thoughts on it. I'm on the same page as the rest of you.

I have trouble thinking of any attraction I can remember being built as a "classic" attraction. That may be because I've just been going for *mumbledy mumble* years.

However, I can see how if they were going to turn it, that it could be easily done. Not that I think it should be done.

I wonder if people realize that Splash Mountain is probably the only glimpse that anyone will ever see of "Song of the South?" (and how many people are even FAMILIAR with that movie?!)

I haven't had the experience of growing up with Splash Mountain - but having had the chance to ride it for the last few years, I would be sad to see it changed to Princess & the Frog. I agree that the themeing issue is something Disney would not take lightly (not too many bayous in the old west!), plus I just don't see the demanding being there for that particular sort of attraction.

That being said, all the elements to change the ride are there... I think it would be an awesome ride... Just don't take our splash mountain away XD

I bought a Chinese version of SoS on Ebay. It's in English with Chinese subtitles. I think it's an amazing movie. There are plenty of copies around if you are willing to look for one.
