Spreading the magic

Hello you lovely bunch,

So in my day- to- day life I try and spread some disney cheer where ever I go, I am always super nice to people that work in shops or restaurants and always end my interactions with ' have a nice/ or magical day" and a smile.

When we go to the parks me and fiance are also very interactive with other guests and try our best to make peoples trips as awesome as ours, for example if we have a table at a busy cs like paco bills and are just sitting eating burgers and a large family with tired kids and even more tired parents come along we give up our table and are happy to stand and eat. We always give our sits on the bus up for the kids.

In the past I have had Mickey stickers that I have given to anyone that has been awesome that we have stood next to in the queue or sat with at the shows, last year we took boxes of pound shop glow sticks and passed them out during fantasmic. Oh and if I make a pin trading friend I sometimes give them a bonus one from our spares,

But my favourite thing to do was handing out fast passes, because I used to get a disability pass, I would go and get a paper fast pass for so etching awesome like TSM and then save it and later on just before the time was up if we saw a couple heading that way or looking at the times board and saying "oh man 120 mins" we would gift them the fast pass. This really made us feel magical and the reactions we got were always great. Sadly though with fast pass plus we can no longer do this.

So my question is.... What things do you do to make others trips as magical as yours, it could be letting kids stand in front of you during the parade, buying a cast member a drink, taking English treats to the cms At the uk pavilion, handing out pins or stickers, our just offering to take a photo so the whole family can be in it...

I always write nice notes on the tip envelopes for servers, of which I've had many tell me it was going in their Disney scrapbook. I always always always comment on exceptional service to the managers or stop at Guest Services to make a note of cast members that have made my day. And I leave good tips for the maid.

With other guests it's frequently a matter of what I can do on the fly. I take a lot of pictures of people for them, I always feel good about that because I know that if I take it they're going to get a fairly good picture. My kids have given away trader pins, and extra Sorcerer's cards to other guests to share in the magic. Once we gave our balloon to a little girl who lost hers at the bus stop. We have also given away Fast Passes.

One of the truly delightful things that I've read about people doing on this board, is that some of our members buy dinner for strangers using their extra table service credits. I love that.

Well I'am always grinning from ear to ear ( like the Chesire cat ) when I'am at WDW...I've yet to have a bad day in all my five trips..That's a total of 56 days...My accent sounds like Sean Connery,so that usually gets people asking where I'am from..( I tell them a castle in the highlands ) There can only be one highlander...I've often taken photos of families ( then ran off with their camera ) only joking.. laugh ...But in general I'am in a magical mood 24/7...I did come across a wee laddie several years ago after the parade was finished at MK..The park was pretty still much in the dark and he was crying standing alone near Winnie the Pooh..He had lost his parents in the crowd..But I managed to get him to a CM who took over..I remember saying to my DW that it must have been scary for him..Reckon he was about 5 or 6...I'am sure he was reunited with his parents, who also must have been panicking...

One thing I've been doing lately is putting some older and 3D and LE pins back into circulation by trading them with a cast member. About 2 years ago, I bought out an entire collection (about 650 pins eek ) from a collector here in town for an absolute bargain (about $800) and it was full of 3D and LE pins. I separated all the ones that don't fit with the themes that I collect and now I have a whole pile of really cool traders. I know how much it makes my day to find an awesome pin on a cast lanyard, but with so many scrapper pins, the CM's can't even begin to keep up with taking them out of circulation anymore, so now we help spread the magic and try to make pin trading fun again!

I always love it when this question comes up because there are so many different ways that people spread the "Magic". We use to give out the fastpasses too, that was great and some of the expressions on peoples faces were unforgettable and we knew how it felt because we had it done to us too.

I remember the first time, Scrappy and I were on our first "Grownup" trip. two off duty cast members were in EPCOT and came up to us and started a conversation. They asked us if we were having fun and how long we were there for. Next thing they handing us a little booklet with a whole bunch of snap of little cards in it. Well they were all fastpasses that could be use at anytime, anywhere. We were speechless and they had smiles from ear to ear, said "Have a Magical Trip" and off they went. We just stood there dumbfounded like "Did that just happen?". It's a great feeling.

So ever since that, we try to "Spread the Magic" any way we can. When we used the DDP, we gave away our desserts to people that didn't have the (when they use to let you do that freely). A lot of time I will "anonymousely" pay someones drink tab at a restaurant if I see they have on a celebration button on. I have bought a stranger a pop corn, or mickey pretzel, or a balloon and had the CM tell them, "It's on Mickey". We have asked almost total strangers on a "Wishes cruise" with us and have walked away at the end of the night friends for life.

We alway try to recognize exceptional service of CM's and we always tip well. Scrappy & I both worked in the food service at times in our lives so we know how hard it can be, and can you imagine some of the stuff that the Mousekeepers?

I once had a CM tell me he could tell when a guest "understood the Magic" just by the look in their eyes and the glow on their face and he loved to watch people "spread the Magic"!

When I worked at Studios, I would find fastpasses all over the place including in the trash can (the fastpasses were on the very top of the trash, I didn't dig through it) then hand them to out to guests. I had gotten general admission fastpasses for Hollywood Studios and I gave some out to a couple families to use that day. I could use my my id and admission pass to get multiple fastpasses at once, when I tried it one day at MK, since I wasn't staying for very long, I handed them out to a family. It was for like Peter Pans Flight. That's all I've really done. When my boyfriend and I eat out on Disney property, we try and leave a nice tip for the server.

We try to leave generous tips. We leave creative thank yous for our Mouse keepers. On our last trip our mouse keeper thanked us in person she was so excited that it has me even more excited for the next trip. DH is a professional photographer and spends a lot of time taking couple pictures for strangers. We have only handed out a few fast passes but I'm sure we will find a new way of being kind.
