Here in Chatham Ontario it is pretty windy and of course like finngirl it has been raining here since we got back on Saturday(we live about an hour and a half away from each other). A lot of people have power outage right now but the local linemen say it will be back on by 9pm so 2 hours from now. From what I understand though the wind gusts are only going to get worse. I just got home myself and wow it sure is windy out!!! I am secretly hoping for a day off work tomorrow but my boss reminded to find a non electric alarm clock to make sure we get up on time and make it to work.
Our area of Philly isn't bad, very surprised more trees haven't fallen and taken out our power yet. Don't know how the neighborhoods on the Schuykill and Delaware are doing, though.
Fellow Americans, I hear your tambourines inside my head and that's no lie!
The wind has picked up. My lights have dimmed but haven't gone out.
Living off the generator presently (Monday at 7:55 PM) outside of Manchester, NH. We've got cable, but no power. Very windy and rainy. I got the generator about 18+ years ago because they use wet string for transmission lines around here.
Vettelover, have you got power?

Sure do BB, not even a flicker so far. I have a generator and did start it up to make sure it was functioning correctly. The transmission lines in my developement are ALL underground and boy that sure helps with the dependability factor, we very rarely loose power.
So far we've had wind gusts up to 55 mph, lots of rain, and a brief outage. According to the storm track, the center of the storm is going to pass right over us. Fortunately, we're about a 3 hour drive inland, so we won't be hit the way those of you on or near the coastline are.
Cookie...we're not near the Rahway River branch...I live closer to Springfield but our power just went out as I am typing and just came back on but it's going off and on and I think it just went out for good right now but not sure...my heart is racing because there are so many huge trees in our neighborhood and I have an extremely large one right next to our house...all the creaking noises and wind is making me truly fearful.
Stay strong, east coasters! We're going to get through this together. How's everyone passing the time? We have 30 Rock on Netflix until the power goes, some Dungeons and Dragons games to write, and a six pack of Victory Headwaters.

Minding the generator (but only for a little while longer). Kids have already headed off to bed. The dog and cat are just nervous with the wind noise. And I am reading trip reports.
Just got home from a 12 hour shift and all I can say is wow!
Shoot... We're here in Ohio. Ways away from all of this and tomorrow is supposed to get real bad here. I'm watching all the videos and checking out all the pics. It's madness out there! Praying for you all hat are enduring this.

Listening to the winds howling outside now...gusts up to 50mph here in Michigan..
hope everyone is holding up!
Be safe - have a clear path out or up - and know that you have many friends thinking of you.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

The worst is over here in central PA, and we appear to have come through with no significant impact. The gutters are clogged with leaves, of course, and I'm sure there's a puddle in the basement (don't even want to look till I have time to shop vac it up). I heard something go bump in the night, but I think it was just an old pallet we keep beside the house where we rack our canoe in the winter. I'll check it later. Otherwise I don't see anything amiss, which is quite good considering it poured here for hours and the winds gusted up to almost 60 mph. How's everyone else doing?
We're okay. Bad winds. a lot of rain, and a little water leaking through the bad part of our ceiling but nothing terrible. Some trees are down in the neighborhood and some transformers blew up, but none that affected us. No flooding in the streets either. Sadly, my friends who live in LBI and near the Hackensack River or Raritan Bay in NJ didn't get nearly as lucky.
That said, all people and pets are safe. Cars and parts of homes can be replaced, life can't.

All is good here in the West Deptford NJ area. I'll have to say it got pretty hairy last night. I've never felt wind like that before, and I was especially worried because of all the rain we got and the two large oak trees in my front yard. We spent the night hunkered down in the Man Cave, watching the news and old Roseanne reruns. We never lost power, which was good. Went out to survey the aftermath this morning only to find my trash cans had traveled a bit, as well as a bunch of leaves and twigs in the yard. All is good. I hope everyone else out there in WDWFG land in the path of this storm is faring well.
It wasn't to bad around here, still got some roadways closed due to wires and trees. We've had worse thunderstorms during the summer months really. Jersey did get nailed though. i love Jerseys Governor, he pretty much told the people that were stuck "I told to to leave, sucks to be you if you didn't !" Got to love it.
Hurricane Sandy was headline news here in the UK too. I was thinking about you all while watching the updates over the last 24 hours, as I realised so many of my new disney friends must be East Coast and other affected states. Wishing you all well and hoping that you have all come through this without too much damage
no ticker
No issues getting to work this morning. Mostly leaves and twigs on the road. There was a street closed but not one I need to travel on.
Southern CT got hit a lot harder than where I am.

Glad you're safe, JoAnn!

OK, guys, it's 8:34 PM Tuesday night. The hills are still alive with the sound of generators. Unbelievably the cable and internet are still on, so I've been able to power up a TV, a cable box, and a DVD player in addition to the fridge and some lights.
So far it's been about 30 hours. During the ice storm of '08 we went 10 days without power, but that was just before Christmas and it was really cold. Today it reached 60F and the sun was out for quite a while. It's raining now.
I still consider us fortunate when you see the damage in NJ and NY.
We're up on a hill and can see lights in the next town over, so they're getting closer.
Reporting from Connecticut! The wind gusts were extremely terrifying!!! Lots of trees down, wires down, etc. no flooding but it was pretty bad here! Power has been out since 1pm yesterday!

And now thunder and lightning! Can snow and sleet be far behind?
Well, over here on Long Island, my family, friends and I are safe. My power and cable came back on around 2:30 am. The flooding and damage on our southern coast is absolutely devastating. Thankfully the worst I have heard personally is a family member who will needs to gut her entire first floor and rebuild. Breezy Point in Queens lost over 100 homes to fire, the department couldn't access the area due to the flooding.... Long Beach is awful, Fire Island is ...well... awful.....it's sad and overwhelming. I'm thankful for what we have and am willing to give anything I can to those that lost it all...... A very sad day here on Long Island... Mother Nature is a power and unpredictable woman.... The randomness of her damage is breathtaking...
Happy to hear you are okay, Nikki.
The power came back on around 3AM.
