Suggestions?

Ok guys need some advice. We are not doing a dining plan as eating as I indicated in another post is not a high priority for us and let me be honest here I am a cheapskate when it comes to this particular thing. I have figured out many ways to keep us fed and happy without spending much. With that in mind I would like to do one nice dining experience with my family while we are there. I am often teased about my thriftiness in this area(well deserved) and I would like to surprise them with a not so cheap experience for at least one night. I have a wife who loves food especially seafood and one daughter in her camp. My other daughter and myself are really picky and don't veer far from normal everyday american dining. On our last trip my sister and her husband met us at Epcot and we ate at the Japanese pavillion. It was a lot of fun but I didn't really enjoy the food and left hungry. This is really my only experience with that kind of dining so I have no idea in this area at all. Looking for some ideas and suggestions for a place to eat that is not over the top expensive but also not just hamburger and fries.A place that will give my wife and daughter a chance to try something different but also offer something for my other daughter and myself that is pretty safe. This will score me big points on the trip as well as at home as my mom loves to give me a hard time about this. (My dad was just like me when he was with us) so we often get a big laugh out of it. I so badly want to tell her that I pried open that wallet for one night of good eating. Thanks for any ideas on this. 41 days and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!

First one that comes to mind would be Kona Cafe. They do have a little of everything and are not real expensive in Disney terms. Also the Turf Club in Saratoga Springs. Actually that may be the better choice.

One that came to mind for me is Grand Floridian Cafe - it's in the Grand Floridian hotel which is pretty impressive in itself, and there's a good variety of food to choose from that is pretty reasonably priced.

Well I thought of San Angel Inn in Mexico if you and dd do mexican, the atmosphere can't be beat. I'm also thinking of the restaurant at Living Seas (the name escapes me now which is terrible since it's one of my favs), yes it's seafood, but DH had a great prime rib there.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL could be fun too, food is on the American realm and they do lots of fun things for the kids.

I will second scrappy's suggestion of the Turf Club at SSR but another restaurant you may be interested in is the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk, great fish selections AND some really great steaks as well. We love it there.

I will agree with Flying Fish. I would probably choose it over the Turf Club but price wise I THINK Flying Fish would be a lot more. I can not really say that for sure though. We are always on a dinning plan so I really do not pay attention to prices. Vettlelover may know more about the price issue between the two.

Yes the prices at the Flying Fish are somewhat higher and of course naturally, the menus are quite different.

I kind of think you should do Ohana..for a lot of reasons...mostly because it's served family style so there is TONS of food and lots of variety..and Ohana is just great. The atmosphere is wonderful and it's also great for kids. (And it's not too hard on the budget).

Ohana was my favorite meal at wdw....and the dessert at the end is AMAZING. I actually dreamed of it last week and looked up the recipe online to make at home

Ohana is great and very fun! If you want a nicer meal le cellier is a bit pricey but the steaks and desserts are wonderful.

If you are leaning towards Ohana's do not take to long to decide. They book up very quickly!

Everything books quickly. I've tried to get into Le Cellar but they are fully booked on sat and sun from now thru Christmas.

Keep checking for Le Cellier in case of cancellations - I wound up being able to snag a Saturday lunch reservation abut two weeks before our trip this June.

Looks like we are going with the Wave on Tuesday night. Most places were full so this one seemed pretty safe for the four of us. Have made our reservation and looking forward to trying it out. Thanks again everyone!
