sunrise safari, wanyama safari, and wildlife discovery excursion

Has anyone done any of these three: sunrise safari, wanyama safari or the wildlife excursion? I was wondering which one was the best and if any of them are worth having to stay at the AKL. I am debating whether I want to stay at the AKL or the polynesian for our honeymoon. I have always wanted to stay at AKL because I love animals and think it would be incredible. Also, if I could knock the safari out before the park opens at AK that would make the day at AK so quick and easy. Part of me really wants to stay at the polynesian for the view and romance . . . i am extremely torn and would like some input on what you guys would do and what you like or dislike about the safari options at AKL. I wish you could do the safari as a conceirge guest at any hotel and not just AKL. Then this would be an easy choice.

(P.S. we want to eventually buy into DVC at the AKL when money isn't quite so tight, so I know I will get there eventually)

Thanks Guys!

How about a split stay? A few days at AKL then a few days at Poly? I'd probably consider that a hassle, but for a special trip like a honeymoon, shouldn't you be able to have exactly what you want? wink Good luck and congrats!

Here's some additional info that might help:

The Sunrise Safari is only for AKL concierge guests.

The Wanyama Safari is for any guests of the AKL.

The Wildlife Discovery Excursion is for concierge guests at any resort.

I don't know if you were planning on staying concierge for your trip, but if you were you can do the Discovery Excursion even if you stay at the poly. If you weren't planning on staying concierge then you can pretty much only do the Wanyama by staying at the AKL. I love the AKL but if you'd rather stay at the Poly I'm sure you can probably do the safari next time. There's also the Animal Kingdom Backstage Safari which might scratch the same itch without having to change where you want to stay.

I LOVE the idea of a split stay!!! That's the best of both worlds, plus you get to have two mini-vacations that way.

Also, the poly's more expensive than AKL, so you might be able to save some money that way...

In my opinion, if you can afford the Poly do it! It's your honeymoon..you should go all out!

That being said we did AKL for our honeymoon...and we had an amazing time! We didn't do any of the safari's though..for some reason I was under the impression that they were all for concierge guests..maybe they were at that time..I'm not sure!

Either way you'll have an AMAZING time!

Wanyama Safari was for AKL concierge guests only until fairly recently.

Ah, that makes sense!

Next time I stay at AKL I want to do this! I remember watching the Samantha Brown show on Travel Channel where she takes the safari and it looked so amazing.
