Surprising DH with a visit to DL

I just found out I will be spending a few weeks this summer in vegas and my DH gets to come visit me for a long weekend. As a surprise I thought I would surprise him with a weekend in disneyland as well. I've read its an average of 5 hours from vegas to Anaheim so I thought I would tell him we are visiting the Mohave desert until we pass it then give him our tickets to DL. Neither of us are gamblers and the thought of visiting both parks this year is just to good to pass up. I'm lost when it comes to dining in DL. We have been there once 12 years ago for one day with our family and missed a good deal of things so I would appreciate any in park advice. We will be staying off site. Plan on buying park hopper tickets as that's how we travel in WDW. Does anyone have a favorite ts ADR in DL?

It's been 7 years for us, but we have a long trip planned in October. On my list for TS is cafe Orleans, Cathay circle(world of colour package), goofys kitchen, I know it's silly and loud but we went there on our honeymoon. We are skipping blue bayou this time. It's over priced. The ambiance is great thou. We will probably do a breakfast at carnation cafe too. Steakhouse 55 is pretty good too.
We are planning a lot of QS on this trip. We have 7 full days and 2 1/2 days so not wanting too much of schedule.

That's awesome!! How are you getting to Anaheim from Vegas? My parents took a bus across that route two years ago and they said it was the worst vacation decision they ever made. (Although we live in a small town with NO public transportation at all, so being packed on a bus for 5 hours isn't something that they are accustomed to experiencing and their tolerance for that is apparently very low. laugh ) Might want to drive yourself or even hop a flight if possible.
