Survivor: Pixar Movies

Since we finished the second rides run I thought we could do Pixar movies. Might take a while though, so I'm starting them with 3 points instead of 5,

Toy Story: 3
Bug's Life: 3
Toy Story 2: 3
Monsters Inc: 3
Finding Nemo: 3
The Incredibles: 3
Cars: 3
Ratatouille: 3
WALL-E: 3
Up: 3
Toy Story 3: 3

Since you just have to vote for the one you liked least or are least interested in, I figure it will be okay if we haven't seen them all.

Toy Story 2: 3
Monsters Inc: 3
Finding Nemo: 3
The Incredibles: 3
Cars: 3
Ratatouille: 2
WALL-E: 3
Up: 3
Toy Story 3: 3

copy/paste the list from the last post, then remove one point from the one you like the least. The last one with any points wins the game.

The rat gets it from me as it's the only one I haven't seen. And how could you horrible lot kill off Cars so quickly Sad

Finding Nemo: 3
The Incredibles: 3

Yes. This.

Because nothing is sacred. And we all have personal preferences. Smile I really, really liked TS2, maybe even better than TS. In fact, I think I saw TS2 before TS. Maybe it's an age/girl thing? TS didn't really impact me when it first came out...I only appreciated it after the fact.

I could've picked Ratatouille. I wanted to like it more than I actually did.

By the way, I LOVE tomatoes! *Don't throw me in the briarpatch! hahahahhaa* biggrin

So I'm making soup and doing a dozen other things, and I'm thinking about my statement about age/girl thing...and I realize that rotten tomatoes might start coming my way. Let me try to explain without digging my hole deeper. For me, personally, TS was barely a blip on my radar. I was 24 when it came out, and still a little suspect, frankly, of computer-generated animation. I had seen bad cg animation, and I thought that it was the wave of the future I suppose, that it would forever replace the art of hand drawn animation. It looked clever enough, but that just wasn't enough to get my notice at the time. In fact, I would say that I didn't really fall in love with Pixar until Nemo, and then I went back and loved predecessors. (I saw TS2 well after its release, well after Nemo, and then watched TS.)

Now, credit DH for exposing me to TS and keeping the love alive. He is 6 years my junior, and actually saw TS at its release. My daughter, has a healthy appreciation for fairy tales and other genres, including the TS franchise.

Hope this explains a little. OH - and since I'm here, I'll bring up something else I was thinking about. I think the themes of Cars - no man is an island, the pillaging of our small towns and small businesses by interstates and big box stores - really resonated with me. Supporting local business is something that's important to me.

Hmmm...maybe I should do a research paper and stop boring all of you with my musings. Smile

I guess it is a good thing we aren't playing the OTHER variety of this game where you subtract one from your least favorite and add it to your favorite (though once something is out it is out for good). It would just be going back and forth forever!

But really? I LOVED Toy Story when I saw it. I was when it came out and it was my favorite movie since Beauty and the Beast. I think we saw it at least twice in theaters because me family enjoyed it so much!

Jess, all you do is copy the list and remove one point from the one you like least.

Caitie I like that variation you mention, except I'm not sure it would ever end.

I have seen them end, but there have been times when a tie is declared with the last two!

Yes, really! I promise. At that time in my life, I just wasn't interested in seeing what I thought of as a "kid's" movie....plus the whole CG thing really turned me off until I realized how brilliant they were at it.

Clearly, I have more sense at 40 than I did at 24. Smile And this will further infuriate people...but had I been either a kid (say, 12 or under) or a parent at the time, I probably would have seen it. It would have been on my radar. But at that time, the animated films that I went to see were few and far between (I remember seeing BatB and Alladdin, and maybe The Lion King in the theatre.)

Since we are musing..the first time I saw Toy Story was on a date with my high school boyfriend. I loved it instantly (but I was always a Disney girl no matter what). It wasn't our first date or anything..I think we'd been together about 5 months or so..but I've never ever forget that we watched that on the night I fell in love with him. Awe, sap sap. Whenever I see that movie I remember feeling like that and it makes me remember that I was young and interesting once! Ha!
Granted I am married to another boy who I love even MORE..but you know..first love it's hard to forget. Especially when it involves Toy Story.

We're rather vague on the "when do you get to go again" determination. I think the rule is "if you haven't gone for a few turns you can go again, especially if no one has gone for a while."

I loved TS but I definitely think TS2 is the best of the 3... Woody was just a jerk in TS lol.. and to see how much better the animation got in TS2 is amazing.

It's not that I didnt like Cars.. I just liked it the LEAST of all those on the list. It was just too long I thought. Hopefully Cars 2 wont lose me. The trailers (that play every 40 min in my store) look pretty good!

and I LOVED Bugs Life.. the Circus bugs were hilarious!

So basically... throw in your vote. Let others go as well. Chat about the craziness that happened, and then repeat.

Im down

My two cents is that after the Incredibles... the quality in movies went down. Up made it go up a bit (yes I set up the pun that way before the sentence... im not afraid of it! lol), but Toy Story 3 was amazing. Even if I wanted to go to Pixars Studio's and throw down with them for even ATTEMPTING to... well... if you saw the movie you would know... lol

But I dont understand why there is a Cars sequel... Monsters Inc. 2 im looking forward to... and I STILL WANT INCREDIBLES 2!!! But know it wont ever happen.... sigh.......

End Rant

I'm going again and dinging Monsters Inc. Bug's Life and Cars are the two bottom ones for me. Since they're out, of the others that are left I think MI is the weakest. Ratatouille wasn't my favorite, but I enjoyed it more than MI, and if for nothing else the shots of Paris are beautiful.

Sorry TS2, but for me it's the weakest of the three TS movies. The weakest in this company though is still much better than the offerings from other places.
