Tables at Wonderland

Hey gang,

Has anyone purchased the Tables at Wonderland dining option? I'm curious to learn if it's worth it. It gives a 20% discount at most of the table service restaurants but also assesses an 18% gratuity which basically cancels the discount out. The reason I would get it is to use at the quick service places to get the discount without having to pay the automatic gratuity. Any comments and/or advice would be helpful and clapping welcome.

A big goofy banana Thanks.

We've had it since last fall and it works great for the way we eat. We like to sit down, have a nice meal, and a glass of wine. We are day-trippers, so it paid for itself in about 6 trips for us.

But take a hard look at the participating locations - very few counter service locations accept it. Most of them are table service.Tables in Wonderland (scroll down for locations).

We have had one for several years. We have never used it for QS meals though. It does more than pay for itself even with the tip added for TS meals and signature dining. With the TIW card you do get 20% off of drinks too.

it definitely doesn't cancel the discount out by adding on the 18% gratuity, assuming you would be leaving a tip anyway....

We get a TiW each time as its a huge saving, especially when you consider getting 20% off in all of the resort bars Laughing out loud

I got one in February and used it for dinners for my cousins and I. It paid for itself. I used it a couple of times at the AoA food court but most were on table services meals.

We bought a TiW card last December. By the time we get home from our fall trip, we'll have spent 35 days in WDW this year. We also do a lot of QS (by the way, most if not all QS locations in AK are included due to that park having a limited number of TS restaurants). Here's rough breakdown of our use and savings with the TiW card:

December trip (2 adults)
Lunch @ Biergarten - meal not eligible because booked as Candlelight Processional Package
Breakfast @ 1900 Park Fare - saved $9
Lunch @ Flame Tree BBQ - saved $5
Lunch @ Via Napoli - saved $6

April trip (4 adults--some meal sharing)
Dinner @ Beaches & Cream - saved $11
Dinner @ 50's Prime Time - saved $12
Lunch @ Flame Tree BBQ - saved $8

May Trip (4 adults)
Dinner @ Tony's - saved $19
Dinner @Hollywood & Vine - meal not eligible because booked as Star Wars Character Meal
Dinner @ Biergarten - saved $19
Dinner @ Garden Grill - saved $30
Lunch @ Flame Tree - saved $11

Total saved so far: $130

Planned use & likely savings on August & September trips (2 adults):
Dinner @ San Angel Inn - $9
Lunch @ Whispering Canyon - $9
Dinner @ Ohana - $15
Lunch @ Liberty Tree Tavern - $7
Lunch @ Flame Tree BBQ - $5

So, I expect our total savings for the year to be approximately $175. I would say that it was "worth it", but we did eat a lot more TS meals than we would have otherwise eaten. I would say that we would have likely skipped about half of our table service meals and we did take other people on vacation with us on two of our trips, so some of the savings was actually theirs. The savings that was/will be purely "ours" will ultimately come out to right around $125. We purchased the card for $100 and it's nice to have if you like to do Table Service, but as a result of having the card, we ended up spending more on food because we booked a lot more TS restaurants than we would typically choose so we could "get our money's worth" out of the card.

If you are using it at a table restaurant, you are still saving money, unless you didn't plan on tipping the server.
We almost exclusively eat quick service or snacks and we have TIW. There are just a few quick service places that take it, in all 4 parks. We don't personally eat at any of the resorts, except for Whispering Canyon at WL, but we've found other ways to get the most out of our TIW discount.

Where we've saved money is before we had our AP, we only seasonal AP and we had to pay for parking. If you come to the park after 5pm, you park free w/ TIW. Before 5pm, you get three hours from the time you park, to eat and to take your dining receipt to a guest service and get parking refunded.

Also, the alcohol kiosks in HS take TIW. We were at HS this weekend and my DH got a mohito from one of the drink kiosks by the dance party, and they took our TIW. The drink kiosks there for SW weekends also took TIW.

AK is probably the best park for quick service TIW because they have two QS participants. Flame tree BBQ and Restaurantosaurus.

We think TiW is worth it, I know it is accepted QS at Flame Tree but I am sure others on here will know others. We were worried if the server did get the tip and they do. It goes into their paycheck. We do leave a little extra if we get exceptional service.

TIW savings calculation/$100:

With TIW card

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*20.00 - Discount
*80.00 - Subtotal
*18.00 - Gratuity Added based on $100
**5.20 - Sales Tax on $80
103.20 - Final amount charged, takes into consideration discount, gratuity and tax.

Without TiW Discount (and still figuring 18% Gratuity)

100.00 - Original Menu Amount
*18.00 - Gratuity
**6.50 - Sales Tax on $100
124.50 - Total

$21.30 - Savings using TiW Card.

Based on the current pricing, the following is the break-even point for menu pricing (assuming you will routinely give an 18% tip):
AP Holder or DVC Member ($100) is $469.48
Resident (not AP holder) ($125) is $586.85

They told me it was a 'bonus month'. We bought ours on August 10th, 2013, and it is good thru Sept 30th, 2014.

When left to tip on my own, I generally leave 20% (just easier math), but with TiW I find myself sticking with 18% unless the server was just exemplary.

I do remember reading other posts about it be good for 13 months. Maybe they changed it this year?

We got ours in August 2013. The man who sold it to us said that TIW is good until the end of the month after you bought it, aka 13 months. It does say expires 9/30/2014 on our card, so we did get 13 months. But they definitely could have changed it for 2014!

Intesting.... the one I got in February is good for one year to the day. Not that it makes a difference to me. After October, I don't have any plans to go back until July 2015 for my cousin's wedding.
