Tell me again please!

If you are staying at a Disney Hotel and have an annual pass, you can go on MDE 60 days before your vacation and make FP+ selections for the length of your hotel stay. So if the first day of my trip is 5/23, I can go online and get FP+ reservations on 3/24 for my whole trip. I read somewhere that the FP+ window on MDE will open sometime between midnight and 1am.

So for a 5/23 trip, FP+ booking should become available 3/24 sometime after midnight?

Does that sound right?

That should be right. With tickets and a Disney hotel reservation linked to my account, I was able to make FP+ reservations for my entire length of stay (7 days in my case) at 12pm EST 60 days out from my first night.

That sounds correct, Colonel. You should be able to make selections for your entire stay. If I recall correctly, even though we did a split stay in the fall, I'm fairly certain that I was able to reserve all of my FPs on the first day that my window opened for the first resort.

Oh yeah..I have a split stay. Two separate travel plan numbers because I used two different DVC contracts. I hope that doesn't screw it up.

Thanks

Mrs Ferret made our FP+ selections on the 60 day mark of our first day and was able to select options for all 14 days of our stay.

I've done it before as well. But last trip I was up at midnight trying to do it and it didn't become available. Now I read that it becomes available between midnight and 1am.

I've read that it becomes available after the last park closes. So like if the magic kingdom doesn't close until 2 then it won't be available until then. I'm not sure on the validity of this though.

I think that's a solid theory, H0ney. I've seen that wind open up right at midnight and I've given up waiting and gone to bed because it just wouldn't open up. My information says midnight but maybe that's the reason.

I did a split stay for my October trip and I was only able to make FP for the first part of the trip on the first day I was able to make them. The rest of the trip opened up with the second reseveration.

I wonder if it has to do with how long you were at each resort? We stayed 3 night at VWL, 4 nights at BLT, and 3 nights at SSR. I might not have been able to reserve FP+ for the part at SSR right away, but I think we got at least a week long window courtesy of the first reservation. Was the first part of your trip 6-7 nights?

I've heard some controversy about people booking "throw away" reservations where they book a one-night stay somewhere very inexpensive (Fort Wilderness Campground seems to be a prime target for obvious reasons) and then buy a 7-day park hopper with their package. Then they book their real room separately at an offsite resort so they can pay offsite prices and still get the 60-day FP+ window.

We did a 1-night at BWV when we were down for Villains Unleashes last year and I'm pretty sure that I had the ability to make FP+ reservations for an entire week even though my reservation was only one night. I was using an AP, so there was no information available to Disney regarding the number of days I had available on my ticket.

My reservations were 4 nights each. I also had an AP. I could be remembering incorrectly (I've slept since then LOL). I know I had to make my ADRs separately for each reserverations so that's why I'm thinking I had to do my FPs separately too.

I remember reading about people making the "throw away" reservations. Annoyed me that someone would take away a spot from someone who actually wanted to stay there. I think it was changed to only allow FPs for length of stay.

Sounds correct to me, and if you want to get FPs for the Mine Train or Parade and Wishes viewing at MK, you will definitely want to do it as soon as possible. Same goes for Toy Story Midway Mania. Pretty much, unless you are really into specific times, you shouldn't have a problem with getting others later in the booking period. Hope you get everything you want!!!! crossfingers
