Teppan Edo ..

Forgive me folks, but one of my presents I'am getting from Santa.. crossfingers ...Is a Teppanyaki Grill..Quite a large one as I'am hoping to do some cooking on my island table in our kitchen..I've read a few recipes but I'am curious about the above restaurant at Epcot..Does the sushi chef do his stuff in front of you.?...And also if anyone has been, how did they enjoy the fun and food available here.?..

Yes the chef is in front of you. We like it but it does depend on the other people at the table with you. Food is cooked to perfection and what I wouldn't give for the steak now instead of my ham bagel!

Thanks
Sally-Ann....Sounds different..I agree about the company at the table..I went to a Japanese restaurant in Glasgow before attending a concert, and this dude was, well, how can I put it, inebriated beyond belief..His girlfriend was about to get up and walk out..Quite embarrassing..

Of course..Silly me...I watched a Teppan chef on you tube today..I'am sure he was wearing a CM name badge, but it didn't say where he was..Loved the flipping and tossing noodles and various meats..

Teppan Edo was formerly a must-do for us because the closest hibachi restaurant at home was 50 miles away, so even though we LOVE hibachi, we hardy ever got to go. A few years ago, a new hibachi opened about 12 miles from us and this year, one opened in our town. For my taste, the quality of the food at our local spots is just as good as, if not better than, Teppan Edo and our meal is far more affordable locally. Because we can now get similar quality for less money when we are not on vacation, we have been choosing meals that we can't get at home over dining at Teppan Edo.

I've tried make-at-home hibachi and it turns out almost as good as restaurant hibachi. The only thing I don't have down yet is that creamy sauce that you dip...well, everything in. If you find a great recipe for that, please share!!

You recommend the new restaurant? I've driven by I don't know how many times but haven't stopped in yet. But I would love to try it if it's good.

Hi Jan, I like the Aki Steakhouse a lot. We don't do sushi, but I very much like the hibachi preparation. Mostly "standard" menu choices, but just as well done as most of the others I've eaten at. My favorite is still Sakura in Westminster, MD, but for me, not driving an hour round trip is worth the very slight difference in quality. They do a lunch menu at Aki that I believe is $9-15 depending on your meat choice, so that's a great way to check it out with a small investment wink

I really like Teppan Edo. My boyfriend and I have gone twice now. We don't go very often due to price and I want us to eat at every restaurant.
