The Thanksgiving Trip Plans!

Joe and I are planning a Thanksgiving visit to WDW- woo! I'm so looking forward to seeing the Christmas decorations Santa

Plans right now have us driving over late Wednesday morning and coming back Saturday morning. We'll stay off property in Celebration.

Here's what I have lined up so far:

Wednesday
Hollywood Studios with the following evening FPs: TSMM, ToT and RnR Coaster. I'll keep trying for Slinky Dog

Thursday
Happy Thanksgiving! Headed to MK with morning FPs for Haunted Mansion, PoTC and 7 Dwarves. Afternoon and evening plans tbd depending on crowds. I think it would be fun to.watch the evening fireworks at MK though.

Friday
Animal Kingdom in the morning with FPs for Navi River Jouirney, Everest and Safari. I wanted to do Navi again because we only did it once and it was late so I really don't remember much other than i wouldn't do standby for it but would with a FP. And I can't get FOP. Though I'll keep trying biggrin

I know we will work in Epcot somewhere. And I want to check out some of the resorts.

Anyone been on Thanksgiving Day? I think it will be fun and crazy and memorable laugh

And despite the fact that 80% of our stuff has been packed and in boxes since last January, until our new house is completed next month, I did manage to find these 2 beauties, which I will absolutely wear when we go!

Love the hats! I haven't been on Thanksgiving, but I have always been curious as to how the crowds are. I can't wait to hear what you think.

We haven't been on Thanksgiving but we have been on 4th of July and didn't think it was THAT bad. As long as you go in with a plan, expect high crowds, and pack your patience, I'm sure you guys will have an awesome time!

Exactly! We will make it fun regardless.

I did go ahead and get a 7:15 dinner ADR for Yak & Yet on Thanksgiving Day - was really the only thing I could find on short notice that I know we both would like and was not too early or way too late at night to eat for us.

I figure after we are done we can either hang out in AK until it closes at 9 pm, or we can drive over to the TTC and get to MK and catch the 10 pm fireworks. Or head to the boardwalk for a nice stroll.

Kristen, I've read so many varying comments about TG crowds that I just stopped reading and decide we will just go.in expecting a rather hectic day and just make the best of it! Apparently everyone has an opinion and definition of crowded and crazy. Ha!

We did T'day one year but we went totally off the books, nothing traditional

Lunch at Beaches and Cream, La Nouba (RIP) and the Food Trucks for Dinner. It was a really great day!

Crowds?? I read on the internets that everyone goes home for Thanksgiving and then goes to all the Black Friday sales so the parks are virtually empty! We'll have it all to ourselves!! laugh laugh

Gorgeous day at Epcot today. It's busy but not crazy, unless you want to ride something. Soarin was over 200 minutes and Spaceship Earth was 60 when we got there around 11:30. 5 minute wait on the Three Amigos ride which we did.

We picked up our passholder magnets, a passholder ornament and a holiday jacket at MouseGears and then strolled around World Showcase. And picked up a Pluto popcorn bucket with maple popcorn at the Canadian pavilion.

Hollywood Studios this evening! Can't wait to see the light show on Sunset Blvd!

HS was a festive joy Smile We had FPs forbStar Tours, ToT and Rock N Roller Coaster. Standby times were pretty significant. 55 for Star tours, 135 for Slinky, 85 for ToT....but we had a super enjoyable time.

Head's up on Woodys Linchbox menu - the raspberry pastry tart has been replaced with a cinnamon cran-apple. I asked and the CM said the raspberry would not be back until January. The cinnamon cran apple was really good though.

Tomorrow is MK in the morning and AK for dinner.

Heres a video Joe took of the Tower of Terror show. We loved this! They rotate through several different light shows. Oh, and it snows!

The crowds actually don't sound too terrible! And I love the Tower of Terror light show! I wish we had set aside more time to watch it when we were there last year! All the Hollywood Studios additions are super cute!

Happy Thanksgiving! It was a really nice morning at Magic Kingdom. We got to the park around 11 and stayed till 3. It was busy but totally manageable, we thought. Standby lines were again super long; the line for our Buzz FP went all the way past Monsters Inc. but it only took about 10 minutes to get through compared to the 70 for standby.

Very festive atmosphere and we got in PoTC, Buzz and 7DMT via FP. Finally found the Doom Buggy toy at the HM store - couldn't believe it.

For lunch we decided on Sleepy Hollow and the fresh fruit waffle sandwich - waffle with Nutella, bananas, strawberries and blueberries. It was amazingly good and I would get again.

Yak and Yeti for dinner - and I scored a FoP FP for right before dinner. Yay! And I know those in the cold states will not sympathize, but it's chilly enough to were jeans tonight. And a sweatshirt! Brrrr!

Joe just allowed me to book a trip in a couple weeks!!!! I was looking at your post last night and when I saw the castle pic I made this little whimper noise. After our show went off he said "babe, go ahead and find a room" when I asked why he said he saw and heard me when I was looking at the pic and he knows how badly I want to go for all the Christmas stuff.

So, number 1, thanks for posting!!!!! I have you to thank for this trip also. And number 2, keep it coming!!!!!!!!!!!

This afternoon we checked out the gingerbread house ET the Grand Floridian, and then went to Animal Kingdom for FoP, Everest and dinner. Pic of the AK tree below.

Poor dad on FoP...his little boy got scared once he saw the FoP seat and wouldn't get on it. "but son, we just waited 3 hours!" Didn't matter he was not getting on. Kudos to the dad (and the CM) for reassuring the kid that changing his mind was fine and not to cry versus getting mad and making him feel worse.

Here's a picture of the Grand Floridian tree.

We took the Monorail from MK to the GF and then walked back to the TTC. For those ever wondering or wanting to do that, it took us 17 minutes. There's a walkway that goes by the lake at the GF, through the Poly and over to the TTC.

After we hit up Disney Springs yesterday morning, we headed over to Epcot for a few hours. I originally had plans to go to AK on Friday morning, but since we were there on Thursday night, AND got a last minute FP for FoP AND EE, I decided to skip going back.

The only FPs i got were Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth and the Disney Pixar short film. Some pictures below of Living with the Land with a festive spin!

After we did those i scored an evening FP for Slinky Dog so we headed to HS for the evening. And after SDD I got a final FP for Tower of Terror! Yay! BB8 was roaming around the Cargo store. The CM working the remote was really got at it.he had the controls behind his back so unless you were aging attention you might not realize he was controlling it.

Then light show on Sunset Blvd apparent!y includes laser lights! Those were not there on Wednesday. It was even cooler.it's no Osborne lights show, but they did a really nice job with this. My pictures don't do it justice.

Osborne Lights.... sigh waiting

But I agree, we really enjoyed HS last year.

Great pics, and awesome scoring SDD last minute!

Cinnamon Cranapple sounds really yummy! Looks cute too.

I was always a pretty laid back Mom, but even I would have had a rough parenting moment with this one. Good on him for taking the high road.

Aww... Living with the Land looks so cute decked out for the holidays! I wouldn't have thought that they did anything there. It's now on my list for next year's holiday trip.

Your pictures are making me so happy that I decided to do a December 2019 trip. I haven't been during the holidays for about 13 years and I'm really looking forward to going back for all the merriment!
