Themed Rooms

Bella was mentioning the Big Thunder Mountain themed rooms and there's discussion about Haunted Mansion rooms. I wonder if in 10 years people will marvel at the idea that there used to not be themed rooms. Disney has such great associations with the rides, it seems like it makes perfect sense to make use of them in the rooms. I feel like this might be a big trend. What do you think?

What an interesting question! People have been talking for a long time about dedicated themed resorts, but nobody ever came up with specific rooms within a more broadly themed resort. I think it's brilliant, and gives guests even more reason to visit Disney resorts over and over again (to stay in all of the differently themed rooms).

The initial cost might be a bit higher for Disney, but overall it won't cost them any extra to maintain the rooms, so I think it will be a big money-maker -- especially since they'll likely charge more for the themed rooms the way they're doing for the pirate rooms.

Interesting to think that in 10 years, people won't remember when there WEREN'T themed rooms!

I agree I agree! Themed rooms should be the new thing! I remember a few years ago Disney had a commercial where a little boy and girl woke up in this COOL hotel room with huge Mickey and Donald Duck murals on the walls. When I researched the resort I found out it was just a set used for the commercial. It was disappointing. I wanted to stay in a super themed out room like that! The themes at the resort are great but I am all about these "ride themed" rooms that have been popping up lately.

I think Disney would have to walk a fine line with themed rooms. You have to do it in a tasteful manor... to me the pirate rooms at caribbean beach make me want to puke. It looks cheap & tacky to me. Nothing all that special, however the Big Thunder rooms looks amazing.

Unfortunately, the Big Thunder suite is the muy expensive suite at the Disneyland Hotel! I should hope it doesn't look cheap and tacky biggrin I agree that I fear Disney would put too many cost-cutting measures into the rooms and make them look like a bad Disney Store vs. a relaxing and interesting hotel room...
