Thinking about going over to the darkside

We're seriously thinking about staying at Cabana Bay in a suite just to get into Potter early. Is it worth giving up our condo to do so?

Is that one of the perks of Cabana Bay? Isn't that Uni's value resort? There are some perks they don't get, I'm not sure which ones.

I am planning on staying there in 2016. You will get early admittance into the parks for HP, but you won't get the Universal Express Pass. You can purchase that though. My understanding is that their busses run every 5 minutes and it is a short trip to the park drop off.

I would stay there for a night or two, but then I'd get my butt back into the Disney bubble for the rest of the trip.

I've actually heard really great things about that resort. I would totally do it if you're spending a few days at the Universal parks!

if you plan on having a car, remember that they charge for parking at resorts. it's like $15 a day for parking.

$18 per day or $22 for VIP parking (VIP parking is closer to the main level travellators).

It's a nice contrast to WDW...enjoy.

I just redid the math for our stay in July 2016 and it will actually only cost is a little over $100 more to stay at the Lowe's Portofino. We will be there 4nights, get the 3day park to park tickets and have 2 rooms..... by staying there, the Universal Express Unlimited Pass is "included". We also won't have to worry about a shuttle. If you are going during low crowds, you probably don't need the pass.... so staying at Cabana Bay would be perfect since you still get into HP early.
It is so worth it getting in early! We literally walked on to Forbidden Journey 3 times before the line starting getting long and getting into Olivanders before the crowd was great. We are looking forward to Diagon Alley and riding the Hogwarts Express before the crowds. Since we are flying, we will use some kind of transportation to get from WDW to UO, but parking your own car there is not cheap....I guess that is kind of a wash for us since we have to pay for a way to get there laugh
