Tickets, Dining and Transportation

It's cheaper for us to just purchase base park hopper tickets for the dates we will be in WDW - they seem reasonable online at the official Disney website - actually cheaper than on the AAA website - what the heck confused
Are there any other trustworthy places I can look for good deals?

Dining - no dining plan for us, we figure we'll eat breakfast in the room and have a table service meal around 4-6 pm. What about 'lunch' though? What do you guys do?

I couldn't see the FAQ page on the Disney website for some reason so, can you book the magical express even if you're not purchasing a vacation package?

-Since you mentioned you won't be needing an AP, you might want to look into Magic Your Way tickets. Keep in mind the options available to you (Park Hopper, No Expiration, etc). I thought AAA did give a slight discount. Maple Leaf Tickets is another reputable broker. I've heard good things about them, though I've never used them on my own. Remember, APs pay for themselves if you spend 8 days or more in the parks from the 365 day period beginning the day you activate them.

-We're like you when it comes to dining. We don't purchase the DP, and we usually have breakfast in the villa. For the most part we do one CS and one TS meal per day. Sometimes the CS is lunch and the TS is dinner, but other times it's just the opposite. We usually split entrees since we aren't the types that need huge portions.

-Disney's Magical Express is available to anyone staying in a WDW resort, even DVC members staying on points. As always, it's absolutely free.

On our last trip (July) we purchased 10 day PH NE tix and only used 3 days worth of admissions. Being that these are NE, we'll have tix for 2 or 3 more trips...we like to spend a few days of each trip just relaxing at the resort, DTD and visiting friends in the area. In July we were there for 9 days and only ended up in the parks 3 days. We could spend an entire day just touring around the other resorts, having lunch, strolling the grounds, pin trading. There is so much to do at WDW that doesn't involve the parks.

AAA does give a discount but when I compared the Disney website to my local AAA website, the prices were off and the price from Disney was better - weird. Maybe it's not updated?

For example, the Disney website shows an 8 day adult park hopper pass at $289
On the AAA website it shows a retail price of $307.79
and the member price is $295.50 confused

Disney:

AAA:

Am I looking at it wrong? it's been known to happen! LOL

I thought about getting passes for less days then we are actually there but we have 3 kids under 7 so browsing DTD and other resorts - while I would LOVE to, doesn't happen laugh
