I want the MVMCP on the 8th of Nov but idk if i can really justify spending $150 on a party for tow people. I know the halloween party is awesome but I never hear much about the Christmas party.

We attended MVMCP last year and had a great time! You are able to enter the park at 4pm so no need to get a regular ticket for that date! (Compared to the usual cost of a single day ticket, it's less money, but if you average out cost per hour it's about $9/hour for MVMCP) We really enjoy meet and greets so it was tough for us to schedule time to do everything we wanted to and we spent way too much time criss-crossing the park. sad There are some hard to find characters that make appearances for the party plus most characters are dressed in Holiday Cheer outfits, which was fun to see! The music is Holiday themed and it just feels extra magical walking through the park. There are also exclusive events available, along with special merchandise and the limited edition items like pins and the Sorcerer's of the MK card.

Some things that did disappoint:

The cookies and hot chocolate. I expected homemade cookies and rich, chocolatey hot chocolate served at exactly the right temperature in a lovely cozy cup, like the ultimate Starbucks experience. The cookies came individually wrapped and tasted like commercially made, mass produced cookies. Which they were! Not the worst in the world, but not what I expected. The hot chocolate was too hot to drink and we had to wait a while for it to cool down. Once it cooled it was good but not AMAZING like I imagined.

The crowds around 7pm. This is the time when MVMCP officially starts and things got crazy! People that didn't have party tickets were trying to stay as long as possible, party guests were all arriving down mainstreet, the Hub was still under construction, CMs were checking wrist bands and asking folks to make their way to the exits...it was a mad house. My youngest daughter ended up getting clocked in the face with someone's camera and we sat in Liberty Square with an ice pack for a good 15 minutes.

We also went on the last date of the party. I think earlier dates would be less crazy and more magical, especially if you can get in the Christmas spirit earlier! I hope we are able to do it again in the future, because there are things I would do differently, but we really had a great time! mickey

When I first did MVMCP way back when, the cookies and hot chocolate were a lot better. Now it's just a gesture really, because they are not that good. They also used to give you a voucher for a picture with Santa that you received in the mail. I guess with photo pass it's not necessary, but those pictures were very cool. They were Christmas card quality.

Hi h0ney! We did MVMCP in 2013 and MNSSHP in 2014. During MVMCP, I was enjoying myself, but I was kind of in your position where I'd heard so much about MNSSHP that I was looking forward to that almost more than I was enjoying the Christmas party at the time. Then we did MNSSHP in the fall. We made a better use of our time at MNSSHP and actually stayed until almost the end when a monsoon swept across the park and to be honest, I still had more fun at MVMCP the year before. DH was sick at MVMCP and all we manages to do were the 7 dwarfs & Mary Poppins meet & greets, Wishes, and the parade, but I like Christmas better than Halloween as a holiday in general and I really loved the overall atmosphere on MVMCP. I would do either party again (and I might ditch my traveling companions and go to MVMCP in November), but in total, it's Christmas for me all the way! Maybe it's because I like cookies & cocoa (even crappy cookies & cocoa) better than candy?? Oh and I LOVE the Christmas parade and the characters are so cute in their winter attire!

We've done MNSSHP but this will be our first MVMCP this year. I'm holding off on buying tickets because I can't decide what day to get them for. We will be in Disney Saturday, December 5th through Friday December, 11th. I had originally been thinking we would buy the tickets for Thursday, December 10th since it is our last night. That way if it becomes a late night for our two year old she will just be worn out for a small amount of park time the next day and then the plane ride home, rather then if we did it earlier in the week where we'd either be sending her home early from the party or having her try and catch up on sleep when we still have several days of the vacation left.

HOWEVER, I'm now rethinking this as TouringPlans.com put the Tuesday, December 8th party as one of the lowest crowds for the party all season. So my question is, if it were you would you rather go for the lower crowd day and either risk having to leave early or having to skip some park time the next day to let your sleep deprived toddler sleep in OR would you rather save it for the last day so you can take advantage of the longer hours?

I think I would pick the lower crowd day. Our Christmas Party was sold out and you could feel it everywhere. Every line would have been shorter, parade viewing would have been more pleasant, etc., etc. Our MNSSHP was not sold out and while of course there are still lines and people, accomplishing the things that we wanted to accomplish was so much more enjoyable.

I would pick the last night of my vacation with a two year old. Let's face it, even low crowds at MK are a lot of people. A bigger crowd won't effect a toddler in a stroller as much as staying up many hours past their usual bedtime. IMO, Your original thoughts on why you'd pick the last night are spot on.
I've spent MANY days with cranky, sleepy two year olds and I would choose flying home day for her to be cranky and exhausted instead of right in the middle of my vacation. You know one very late night can take days for a toddler to recover from. You may have to spend the rest of your vacation giving her extra naps if you go Tuesday night. Plus, if she's really exhausted from MVMCP she may sleep the whole plane ride home awesome

Soooooo Disney is offering an awesome incentive for the military and that is convincing DH to go. The discount is great. Only thing is that we have to buy the tickets there in person. But if the day is sold out we can still purchase tickets and get in!

You both are voicing exactly what I keep going back and forth in my mind about! Sigh, if only the Thursday was predicted to be a low crowd day that would make my decision so much easier.

I personally liked the Halloween party so much more than the Christmas one too. It just felt more relaxed in vibe. And thanks to Colonel's heads up on ticket release, I got my Halloween party ticket while on my trip last week (still on the phone though) - and lucked out with a bit of a DVC savings for the date I wanted too.

Staying at BLT will be so awesome too - can stay till the end and walk "home" - no bus waiting! yay

Can you buy just the event ticket? Do you have to have a park ticket also??

Party start time is 7:00 P.M. but generally guests with party tickets are able to enter about 4:00 P.M.
