Tips For Cold Weather in Disney

So, clearly Disney World is pretty much freezing right now! Has anyone been there in the severe cold? What do you pack? What attractions do you do? (I'd imagine Test Track, Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, and anything else that includes wind or water is off limits!)

It can be really miserable, especially when it's windy - which it is!

Layers - lots of layers! And gloves and hat. And sunglasses! That's the great thing about FL...lots of times, even when it's 28 degrees (like this morning!) the sunshine makes it not-so-awful. Stay away from water rides (obviously!) And remember, if you're vacationing anytime during winter in FL, NEVER rely on what the weather guy says 3,2, or even 1 day out. Do a final check the day of. Last year, we planned a trip in February and it was supposed to be in the low 60s. We weren't paying attention, and they revised the forecast down at the last minute. We were miserable because we weren't dressed warmly enough.

By the way, we think WESH (the local NBC affiliate) does a great weather forecast.

While it's much better when temps are in the 70's, anything over 55 is pretty much business as normal for us once a jacket is thrown on. Add in a plastic poncho for the water rides though.

We don't go in the winter all that often, but when we do, we dress in layers layers layers.

What I hate about winter in Orlando is that it tends to stick in those in-between temps -- like 60. Sixty COULD be shorts and a sweatshirt, it could be jeans and a tshirt, it could be shorts and a tshirt, it could be jeans and a sweatshirt. You just never know what's going to be too much or too little until you're in the middle of it.

That is a brilliant way to put it, and exactly right. 60 degrees can be many things, depending on wind, amount of sunshine, if it's raining, etc.
