To Touring Plan, or Not to Touring Plan?

I'm really not sure. It's just going to be my girlfriend and I...5 weeks from today. I want to use a basic touring plan, but I really don't want her to be annoyed and feel like I'm just pulling her from ride to ride. How can we use touring plans but have her feel like she can trust me and we can enjoy each ride as we go on it, knowing that the reason we're using touring plans is to avoid lines and heat. It's going to be July.

I can go into detail with my touring plans but I'm just really concerned about this. Any help would be great.

Thanks!! awesome

Be flexible in your plans! If she wants a break, break. If she wants to skip a ride, skip it. Don't go commando on the plans. I have a basic idea but still really flexible.

Oh and share some on the plans with her, she likely will understand better if you don't surprise her with them like a hidden agenda

Okay so this is what I'm gonna do. We'll enter the park with a basic list of popular rides..headliners..ya know? And we'll ride them in the order that we decide on...if the standby is too long we'll grab FP's. Also...we'll grab FP's if we really like the ride we just got off of (which would be like 9am - 11am anyways) and ride it again when the return time swings around.

Epcot and AK are gonna be without breaks. Epcot because it's big and there's all the pavilions to go to and walk around for lunch! And AK because..well...it's small and we'll prob be done by 5ish anyway if we hit RD.

DHS and MK days we'll also hit RD's, but we'll leave to go back to our resort and relax by the pool and stuff from around 1pm to around 4pm. Beat the heat and beat the crowds..ya know?

I think I said this someplace else, but keep in mind that different parts of Epcot open at different times. Although Futureworld normally opens at 9, World Showcase doesn't open until 11 a.m.

Be sure to take time just to stroll and enjoy the surroundings. Disney really is so lovely, and so rich in detail. Downtime by the pool is a GREAT idea!

I hope you have a fantastic time!

Yup! I found this out before I booked us at AKL when I was looking at walkable Boardwalk resorts lol. So in the meantime...we'll do all the popular FW stuff first in the order we sorta decide when we get there...well...after soarin..hehe. And then like the other parks, we'll grab FP's if...(1) the standby is too long or (2) if we wanna ride it again! Thanks!

I usually have a general touring plan in that I know which areas we'll go to first, but we try to stay flexible as to which ride we'll hit in which order. I agree that flexibility is important, that and a realistic point of view. You're not going to be able to do everything you want to, and that's okay. If you have to deviate from your plan, just enjoy the journey. The beauty of not getting to do everything, is that when you get home you can start planning for the next vacation mickey

And sometimes the rides have problems, and shut down for hours. Toy Story Mania shut down for an entire afternoon when we were there in May. No big deal - we had fastpasses, which they promised would be honoured that evening, so we rode a few other rides, went back to the hotel for a swim, and came back a few hours later. We walked onto TSM in about 5 minutes, and actually enjoyed the evening at HS more because we had taken a break.

I'd say don't be a slave to your plans - just use them as a general guide, and adjust as you go along. I hope you have a wonderful trip. yay

I have to share, I just suggested to my boyfriend we plan where we go and he asked me if it wasn't enough to have dinner reservations. This is going to be a super slack trip I imagine. Thank goodness I am bringing an AP with me as well so we can go crazy in the morning

When you put the list together, group the rides / attractions by area or "land" (in MK - Fantasyland, Frontierland, etc; in DAK - Asia, Africa; you get the picture) to eliminate a lot of running back and forth. I know it may not always be practical with wait times and fast passes but it will be a time saver if you can hit as many in one area as possible even if you have to go back for a FP later on.

Thanks! I'll try to memorize where stuff is lol. My goal is to know where we're going but try to make it seem like "hmmm how about xxxxxx? Wanna jump on that before it gets busy?" And sorta do that rather than make it seem like I have a set-in-stone plan that'll frustrate her.
