Trails End Buffeteria

Trails End for lunch at Fort Wilderness was an amazing value. Of course, it used to be an even better value before it became more popular. Heard recently that they are changing the hot buffet lunch to cold sandwiches. What a disaster! We are still recovering from the loss of the Italian Market Sub at the Yacht Club Galley, now the Captain's Table, and that was 4 long years ago. Why do they change things that are great? Some of the changes to the O'Hana dinner meal have been ok. The banana bread pudding with carmel sauce is outstanding. But, Trails End lunch was something we were doing like once a month. It was part of every DW trip. Now what are we going to do? It's too sad.

I like Trail's End, but is there an easier way to get there than driving to the parking lot and then taking the bus?? confused

Hear hear! laugh What's funny is that all the changes that everyone was bemoaning 10 years ago are the same things that people love today!

Agreed on the banana bread pudding, but the loss of the gratin potatoes is a disaster. sarcastic

Because we love the Wilderness Lodge, we park over there and boat to Ft Wilderness. Otherwise, you could bus to Magic Kingdom then boat to FW.

I vaguely remember the potatoes at O'Hana. We also miss the shrimp wontons and for awhile they had small shrimp instead of the gigantic skewered ones. That was really awful!

It was just 2 or 3 years ago that we stumbled onto Trails End, so I don't know much about their food history. Just know they had the best pork barbecue we have ever had anywhere--and we used to live in VA right near NC the true home of good barbecue. So sad..I can still taste the great stuff.

sad sad I'm a huge fan of Disney food, so when they do away with one of my favorites, it's a true tragedy. I've only done Trail's End for breakfast. It was good, but almost felt like a Ponderosa... silly I'd like to try another meal there.

Great idea about taking the boat--it's so close to the dock. Fort Wilderness is all but unexplored for me so far; I'd love to spend some real time there.
