Day2

The weather report said that Faye was just a tropical storm and should be moving in and movingout. We had high hopes for the rest of the trip. Afterall, it was our friend's first time there!

We lathered up our suncreen, put on our tanks, shorts, sunglasses, flip flops.......and our ponchos. Apparently the weather reporter was a bit off and the rain would continue throughout the day. The good news, it should be teh last day of rain in Orlando.

We had decided that day on DHS. OUR ADR was for dinner at Sci fi. Now you may say why the Sci Fi when there is HBD or 50s PTC? Well, our friend had never been and you HAVE to go to the sci fi at least once. It was a childhood favorite of my friend and I.

The best part of the storm was the parks were empty. We rode HTT, RRC, TSM multiple times that day with maybe 10-15 minuted lines. A few times we just walked right into HTT which we were not expecting for the second week of August. The Muppets 3-D also did not have it's customary wait!

Most of the day it poured but the sun did come out for about 15 minutes evrey hour or so for me to get some pictures in!

Most were indoors and since we all know Star Tours decour I won't post many of the attraction pics.

Day 3

Day 3 promised a better day. Before bed the storm was leaving our area. We were headed to AK and had Spirit of Aloha reservations that night! However, the storm, instead of moving overnight, decided to stop. Just stop right there, dead over Orlando. So day three again consisted of ponchos. By now it was wrecking out moods just a bit.

I have to hand it to Disney. They still ran most rides at AK except KRR and EE. We spent the day drenched in the park and still caught the parade.

That night we had the luau scheduled. The desk told us if they were going to cancel they would call our cell phones.

No one called all day. It was still rainy so we were confused as to how they would have the luau. Tents? We took transportation over to the Poly, hiked to the luau location and were told, "Did'nt any one call to tell you it's cancelled"? NO.

Turns out instead of calling my cell phone they called my house....in NJ ...and left a voicemail. Smart.

We were left with a few choices and decided to try our luck in DTD. It would up great because it was empty and we scored a Wolfgang Puck table without an ADR. The food was great and we even had one hour without rain that night to take some pictures and get rid of the plastic ponchos that were quickly becoming part of our skin!

A few more pics from our rainless hour at DTD. No one was around so we got to play Bongos, bongos! We also got some large mixed drinks, which we needed by that point!

Yes! We did. It was a bit hillarious being in an empty park actually. We ran a bit of a muck at MK that first night. We stood on top of Dumbo, danced with some cast members by the pillories. We rode the tea cups continuously and were allowed to take pics on the platforms. Basically about 3 of the 6 days NO ONE was around. I think if 500 people were in MK that first night that was a lot. I have never seen it that barren. So of course we took this opportunity to get near the usually crowded props and act like we were 5 and not 23. haha We had a blast!

Epcot

We woke up again hoping for some clear skies and were sadly disapointed. It was Epcot day which was supposed to be epic...in our minds. We had planned to drink and snack our way around the world. But we didn't let a little rain stop us!

Again, no wait times! We walked right onto test track, soarin', mission space, etc. Maybe this storm had it's upside!

The sun peaked out a bit during the day so our ponchos were on and off. I took a picture of the sky when it finally turned blue for the first time in four days.

Our ADR was at San Angel Inn. I know many people flame this restaurant but I just love it. Maybe bc I'm from NJ and our food is all greasey and odd anyway but the atmosphere here makes it a must-do for my friend and I when we go.

It was raining when we went in so we didn't have hopes for Illuminations. This was disappointing because Illuminations is our favorite night show to catch.

After we left dinner, the rain had quieted and people were lined up. And yes, they show did go on! Day four proved to be a bit more promising than the last three. Maybe tomorrow the rain would be done?

We were hoping to wake up to sun to try and get to Typhoon Lagoon. We woke up and....no rain? Before the sky could change it's mind we tossed on our swim suits and headed to Typhoon Lagoon.

We wave pooled, Family raft rode, hit the shark reef and crush and gusher as fast as possible. After all this rain we had a feeling the sun was just teasing us. It was! Just as we climbed in the lazy river and took a brief float they began calling people out of the water.

The rain started to beat down as we were walking out of the park. We decided to change very quickly there and head to MK since we had Hoop Dee Doo reservations that night. As we got to the bus terminal the rain stopped. We changedour plans. We hopped the animal kingdom bus instead. We were hoping to ride KRR and EE. The park was again empty and the rides opened soon after we go there. We rode each twice with barely a wait!

We hopped a bus to MK. By now it was pouring again but we made the best of it. The rain would give us brief periods of rest where we could at least unhood our ponchos.

We had to res a lot because they water had caused so much stickiness with flip flops that our friend feet got cut up bad. Also their gift bags turned us blue repeatedly as we got drenched. We looked like little smurphs for a few days.

The MK Cast members were very friendly and had fun with us in the bad weather. They gave us a few good tips and tricks, traded some pins and sent us off.

A male and female cast member grabbed us near toon town and took us inside where they did a princess photoshoot with just the three of us. I think they should have grabbed a family and kids but maybe they saw my friends first time button and helped us out. I won't complain though, we had fun and she loved it!


Hoop dee doo was of course, a great time! The waiters teased us as to how we got stuck going there and were amzed when we told them it's a must do for us. Then they promptly said either we had drank too much all day or we did not drink enough yet and brought us another beer pitcher. They also gave us washboards to play which was fun!

Note my yankee shirt in many photos! It was cold and wet and we didn't bring those kind of clothes for August! I kept it in my backpack and popped it on and off! I had one long sleeve that I kepy for when we went indoors and tried not to get wet! Now I am definitely packing extra clothes because it was so cold indoor at air conditioned attractions after being soaked!

This day I changed so many times. Before MK, in MK and before Hoop Dee Doo. Thank goodness for lockers at the MK!

Few more....again not my outfit additions. Multiple shirts and shorts! haha Those ponchos only cover the top but not what splashes up from the bottom!

Our last day we got a bit of sun but it still rained a lot! We had been tossing clothes in the dryer every night and carrying extra's to the parks with us as we were freezing indoors and changed when we got too wet.

We hit many parks this day to re-do everything we wanted to do again. We hit AK in the AM for the Safari and EE, then bussed it to Epcot for Soarin, Test Track, Lunch, and Off-Kilter, booked it to DHS where we did RR, HTT, Star Tours and TSM. We had dinner here and then caught Fantasmic!

We wanted my friend to see fantasmic badly. The rain stopped at about 7:15 ish so we were hopeful that it would go on. And it did!

After that we hit the MK. They were having EMH until 2AM....and it wasn't raining! Finally. It was a beautiful way to end our stay. Funny though that at midnight that night the MK was more crowded than it was all week!

Needless to say our friend had a great time! She's planning to go back when her one year old nephew is old enough to enjoy it!

Disney was great. They hardly cancelled or closed anything. I had a disposable waterproof camera for the pool and waterparks that I wound up using when I couldn't take out my digital....like in Animal Kingdom. When that ran out, pictures became a bit more scarce.

The pail of alcohol was at a stand in Pleasure Island. The worker said that stand would still be around when Pleasure Island closed. The drink was Jessica's Secret and being named Jessica I naturally HAD to try it!
