Trip Report Day 2- Toy Story Mania and Finally Enjoying Food and Wine

Day 2-We're at Disney so it has to get better, right?

Got a some what late start and left the room around 9am. We were going to stop by the bakery but the line was out of the door so we just started our walk to the Studios. We arrived at the Studios around 10 am, looked for something hubby could eat at Starring Rolls (a banana) and I had a pastry. By the time we got to Toy Story Mania the wait was up to 110 minutes. mad The line was stretched outside and we seriously considered skipping this ride. Since this was the only thing we HAD to do this trip we jumped in line. I am just in awe of the que of this attraction. It has so much to see and then you get to Mr. Potato Head. He is amazing. The only thing I was disappointed with was I didn't get to see him remove his ear! sad All in all we waited a little over an hour to get to the ride. yay Let me tell you this ride does not disappoint. Our prizes didn't work at the end so we don't know what we "won" but that did little to dampen our excitement.

After TSMM, we rode ToT and went on a search for something hubby could eat. I had canceled all our ADR's because of his surgery and we were finding it a little hard to find something for him to eat. He was able to each "mushies" now so we thought maybe we could go to Mama Melrose's and have some pasta. Well, they took the last walk in right before me so that was not happening. We walked back over to the Sci Fi Dine In and this time we got the LAST walk in! clapping We were not super excited about eating here as the last time we ate here it was not very good. We were pleasantly surprised with the meal and the service was very good. Hubby was able to eat a bowl of chili and I had a Beef and Blue salad.

Once we finished lunch we decided to head to DTD for some retail therapy. We took a bus from Saratoga Springs and walked to the Marketplace.

After our retail therapy we took the bus back to the Boardwalk and took a very small nap. Hubby was in a better mood and wanting to give the F&W another chance so we walked back to EPCOT. crossfingers

This time we started counter clockwise around World Showcase and stopped in France. I had made a checklist on my phone on all the things I wanted to sample. When I started looking at what I had picked it was most sweets and wine! biggrin We enjoyed samples from France, Louisiana, Morocco, New Zealand, Boston, Italy, and Mexico. Hubby was able to enjoy several items as well as 2 beers. He was so happy clapping This was really the first time since his surgery that he was able to eat "real" food and boy was he enjoying it. By the time we got to Mexico it was time for us to find a spot of Illuminations and we found a great location on the bridge between Mexico and the entrance to World Showcase. We started talking to a newlywed couple from Britian and the time went by fast. As always Illuminations was wonderful and the new globe looks great. The images are so clear and I thnk we found a new location to watch from.

Hubby wanted to head to ESPN to see if we could get in to watch the 2nd half of the LSU/FL game so we walked back to the Boardwalk. We got in line at the ESPN club but it was at capacity so they couldn't tell us when we might get it. We decided to call it a night and just watch the game from the room.

Tomorrow-Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, Halloween Horror Nights

Those TSM waits are outrageous. The FastPass is often a must. Since it was your first time though it's not so bad to get to check out the queue. We usually get there early, grab a fast pass and then go through the line once. How are the other lines?

Awesome! I'm so glad you guys got in somewhere and they had something for hubby to eat. I've been to Sci Fi a couple of times, but haven't ever been very impressed either. I hope your good experience indicates some good changes! crossfingers

Sounds like me!! silly

And we always seem to end up watching sports in our hotel room. We have a history of trying to get into the ESPN club and quickly realizing that folks have been lined up for hours with the same idea... Oh well! Guess we have to order room service! laugh

Looking forward to hearing about horror nights...

Some of the first videos that came out when TSM opened showed Mr. Potato Head pulling his ear off and then putting it back it. It was so cool and I could not wait to see him to it in person. No such luck though, even when we were in the que for such a long time he never did it. I am wondering if it's kinda like the Yeti....he works when someone important is coming (i.e. Joe Rhode) but for the average guest you're just supposed to be impressed by him without doing all the fancy things he can do. That being said he is so awesome even without the ear thing

To be quite honest I think it was much more crowded than we expected in all parks. We the only other thing we waited for was Soarin which was about an hour. We rode it again with FP and also rode Tot with a FP. We waited about 30 minutes for RnRC, and did single rider for TT. As far as stuff at the MK we rode everything during MNSSHP so they were pretty much walk ons. On Tuesday we really didn't wait for much at the MK and my CM friend got us into HM without having to wait the 30 minutes posted times.
