Of course none of us ever stick with our original plans for very long, so I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear that we've adjusted some things in out itinerary!

After a very nerve wracking time schedule that was wrought with delays, we dumped Whispering Canyon as a late lunch on our arrival day. It took me a few days to find an open reservation, but we got back into Cape May Cafe, which we enjoyed immensely last weekend. So that gives us three hours built in for delays.

We also very much enjoyed the spicy chicken waffle at Sleepy Hollow, so we'll probably opt for that over lunch at Casey's Corner or Columbia Harbor House. It really doesn't matter when I suppose, but I want another one of those sandwiches! Wow!

I did end up booking Turf Club for dinner before the race. We'll eat about 4 hours before start time and that should be plenty of time for me to be full but not over full.

I tried to swap my Buzz Lightyear FP for another 7DMT FP, but no dice. I'll try a few more times, but we will get to ride 7DMT several times, so it should be fine either way.

Congrats on the 10 miles! What is this "Ballon man of Doom?

Thanks for asking! I googled it and can't find a thing! LOL

The balloon man of doom ( or sometimes balloon ladies) are the people at the back of the race with balloons that keep the required 16min/mile pace. If they pass you, it means the sweeper is coming and you either need to pass the balloon people or be swept off the course eek

awesome

wow, they are serious LOL

6 days to go...As excited as I am to go to Cape May Cafe again, I was a little bit bummed about missing out on Whispering Canyon. So, the other night, I managed to do a little bit of creative shifting to get The Wave moved to a dinner time slot (conveniently on a MNSSHP night so we can go to Top of the World afterwards and watch the fireworks again!). That freed up a lunch slot for Whispering Canyon and they did in fact have an ADR available! yay

I still haven't been able to swap our Buzz Lightyear FP for a 7DMT. Oh well, we like Buzz ok and it's one of those that I'm definitely not going to bother to ride if I have to stand in line!

This is the trip that seemed so far away. I can't believe that it's almost here. It's kind of bittersweet. I'm really looking froward to spending the time in Disney with Benn without having to worry about entertaining guests and making sure that they have a good time, but this will be our last trip on our AP's and since we have DL/cruise planned for March, we definitely will not be renewing our AP's right now. After that trip, our next three big trips are likely to be Universal (I promised Benn 11 years ago that we'd go there someday...the caveat is that when we do that trip, I get to do Disney's Backstage Magic tour, which does not require separate park admission), Disney Cruise (I've been dying to do this!!), and hopefully an Adventures by Disney trip to somewhere. So it's not like we won't be doing Disney travel, but I'll definitely be missing WDW over the next few years. I guess the good news is that there should be all kinds of new attractions by the time we finally go back!

By the time you go back to WDW, Disney Springs will be finished, the hub expansion at MK will be finished, the new Avatar section at AK should be finished, whatever Star Wars thing they're going to do at DHS might be finished, and who knows, maybe you'll even be able to get into Be Our Guest and onto the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train without having to book ADRs/FPs at the earliest possible moment. So look at all the wonderful stuff you'll get to experience all at once. It almost makes it worthwhile not to go back for a couple of years...heck, who am I kidding, no, it doesn't. But I'll keep thinking it does because once our winter trip is over we'll be in the same situation you're in.

And I smile as you describe arranging and rearranging your plans for this trip because I've been doing the same thing for our November trip. There's always some way to tweak things and make them better, especially when you discover the park hours and crowd estimates have changed yet again.

Watching all of these wonderful things from home will definitely build the anticipation for the next trip. There has been some talk about possibly taking our nephew to Star Wars Weekend as an 8th grade graduation celebration in 2016, so maybe it won't really be as long as it seems until we're back again.

I'm definitely nervous!! Training is going very well, but while it's cooling off here more and more every day, it's still very much summer in Orlando and I hope I'm not spoiled by our fantastic fall-like breezes at home. I've only done the full distance once. I was going to throw in another long run in September, but even the night that I did the 10-mile, miles 3-5 were the hardest for me. Once I'm past the halfway point, failure is not an option and I'm confident that I can tough it out.

How's your half training going?

Our Half training is going ok. I'm just glad it's going at all laugh . We kept putting it off all summer so we've just started this month. We're only at 4 miles so far so we have a ways to go! I am SO not looking forward to winter running Shock

I hear ya! I'm a winter person. I love the cold and the snow...but mostly from indoors while drinking cocoa in front of a fire. Not so much for running. Summer was mild and mostly manageable here this year, but last summer and fall were quite warm and I was looking forward to cooler temps. Then that polar vortex thing rolled in...enough said. And you can't train a race on a treadmill. It's impossible.

I'm leeeeeavin' on a jet plane.....the only things standing between me & WDW are one more training run, one suitcase to pack, one night's sleep, one drive to DC (in rush hour...oops...who scheduled these flights??!), and one plane ride....

Thanks, friends! Having a marvelous trip so far. I'd say I can't wait to tell you all about it, but that would mean I'm anxious to be home and that is certainly not something I'm ready for anytime soon!!

I just wanted to give a shoutout to Watchmaker to let you know that we are absolutely loving Wilderness lodge. I think that you'll be quite pleased with your choice! I was really excited about Bay Lake Tower and now that we're switching there tomorrow, I'm kinda bummed to be leaving Wilderness!

We had a lovely time meeting up with Amy and her mum Susan and The Colonel and Mrs. The Colonel. We'll be catching up with Jessalynn27 and Sally-Ann and Graham in the next few days.

Good luck to you, was thinking about you as we walked round DHS today. The weather is kind, not too hot or humid and dry. Oh and can you tell Benn I was a numpty and told him the wrong email! If he takes out the - and moves it all together it should work!

16 minute mile is a fast walk, no? I ask because I can't really run much, but would like to participate in one of these events.

That is a fantastic story Holly. Great job!
