Twice in One year?

We really would love to check out Disney during other months besides our standard May trips, especially in October. We're going from 4/30 - 5/8 in 2010 and so I thought in 2011 we'd just make our trip in October and see how we like it. In 2012 we can go in May again if we want but that would mean taking the kids out of school for an extended amount of time twice in one school year and I won't do that. So, that means we'd almost be stuck going in the summer (NO WAY!) keeping with October or skipping a year (NO WAY AGAIN! lol)

I got 320 points this year and banked them for our May trip, so I have 640 to use in 2010 and our May trip is 511 so we have 129 left. CJ suggested a quick trip in October 2010 but I'm wondering if it'd be worth the 'hassle' of traveling? We'd pretty much have to go Columbus Day weekend - a busy time I'm sure and it'd only be for 3 days - arrive on a Friday, stay Sat. and Sun. return home Monday and this of course would mean we'd have to fly eek

Has anyone been there over Columbus Day weekend? We really just want to check out the wine and food festival and do MNSSHP so maybe one day Epcot, one day MK and one day DHS.

We could even 'maybe' stay at a different villa to try a different one although I'm afraid I will be spoiled by BLT laugh

I've been there during Columbus Day weekend, and it's really not that bad. I would say it approximates late May/early June. Waits are fastpass-worthy, but probably nothing you don't deal with in May.

Have you considered taking a trip with just you and CJ in October? It's a thought... Wink

They wouldn't want to go to the stupid old Food and Wine Festival anyway. (Just don't tell them about MNSSHP!)

That is a really tough decision to make -- the Mommy Guilt vs. the Adults only trip. I don't envy you, but I will say that going in October is a wonderful experience. Wink

I'm sure as they get older they won't (maybe) want to go as much and then we an sneak away alone. I'd really like to check out MNSSHP - just wondering if 3 days is worth a trip.

Horrifying thought: What will you do if your kids hit their tweens and decide they'd rather go to Universal Studios instead of Disney World, because it's "cooler"?

My nieces hit that point and now every time my brother and his wife take the girls to Orlando, they all want to go to Universal instead of Disney (freaks). They're all into the thrill rides--the rollercoasters and whatnot. I just don't understand how they can keep going back there and not venture over to Disney World. There's so much more to do at Disney.

But then, that might be the tipping point where you start going to Disney without the kids, huh? laugh

LOL - actually I am dying to go to Universal! I am just waiting for the kids to get older. laugh That being said, our trips will always consist of Disney World!

If you want thrill rides, go to your local Six Flags or whatever! Although I will say some of the rides at IofA are worth riding. Dueling Dragons, or whatever it is now, is a favorite.

COOL!! I think those places will be saved or when the kids are much older though.
