Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

The classic question!! We're finally gonna hit a water park this trip. Which one do you like?

I'm a Typhoon Lagoon girl--the shark reef and crush-n-gusher roller coaster are just too much fun.

Lots of folks love the wave pool there, too.

I like the themeing better at TL, as well--Blizzard Beach has too much bright white! Wink

My gut has shown a resiliancy to all my attacks that leaves me reluctant to don swimwear.

We like Blizzard Beach because the slides are just better. Plus, we can go miniature golfing at Winter Summerland after a day at the water park.

I really really like Typhoon Lagoon!!! I love the wave pool. I go in for about half an hour and later go in again and maybe still later yet again!!!

I have a great time swimming with the sharks too. I go as slowly as possible so as to see as many of the tropical fish as I can. I keep hoping that I can touch one.

Then, of course, there's the Lazy River. I could go round that tow or three times.
Yep!! I really like Typhoon Lagoon!!

That being well established, I must say that I have never been to Blizzard Beach!

We like Typhoon Lagoon over Blizzard Beach, Blizzard beach is so bright on thoes sunny days it's kind of blinding and when you get back to your hotel room after a long day at BB it's very dark looking..
We also just find it more enjoyable to spend the day on sand and a beach like setting..

I was wondering if that blinding sun might be a bit much for us! Plus, we're pretty lazy. We like the slides, but will probably spend most of the time relaxing, maybe doing the shark swim-through and some time in the wave pool. It seems like BB is more "slide-focused." Right?

I like TL myself. I live in a snowbelt, so a snow theme does nothing for me on vacation at all. I'd rather never see snow again laugh

BB does seem to have a little more advanced slides tho. Summit Plummit is HUGE. I like Teamboat Springs alot at BB - that's the family raft ride. It's better than the family raft ride at TL.

TL has Crush N Gusher which really rocks. I love just floating around Castaway Creek. The theming is so luch & tropical.

You can't go wrong with either one. They are both a blast.

I don't know them well enough to have a favorite. I've only been to TL one time laugh Planning on getting a better idea next weekend tho!

Sounds good to me!! I think I like the Pineapple one---whatever one is only a one-seater and is up the highest!

Marz in swim trunks is not a good sight. So I prefer to stay in the water. TL for me.

laugh I guess I would take that into consideration as well! Though everyone else in Disney World looks like me, so what the heck!

I haven't figured out how your monorail countdown works. It says six days but the back car is over 4. Am I reading it wrong?

Hmmm, I just looked at it & can't figure out the monorail car either. My countdown says 4, but the car ends near the 3..... confused It';s cool looking either way tho! laugh

Here's my theory on the monorail banner.

I think the number of cars left on the banner is how many days. If it's more than 10 then the little numbers across the bottom measure how many multiple of 10 days until you go.

While I LOVE the Crush r Gusher water coaster, I was NOT a huge fan of the wave pool...it is easy to lose people in your group and can be painful too.

I love the lazy river in Blizzard Beach.

We did both last trip and I thought they were pretty equal, so I would pick based on if you would enjoy the wave pool.

Wave pools can indeed be painful! I can't tell you how scraped up I get in those things! eek

I was going to start a thread about this, but then I wisely (luckily) did a search first and found this one.

While it's close, I would choose Typhoon Lagoon. I love the Surf Pool, and like someone else mentioned, that could be what gives it the slight edge.

I do love Crush'n'Gusher and Castaway Creek too, and I like the classic themeing, though I think the themeing at Blizzard Beach is Imagineering at it's finest. The slides at TL are great too, though I'm not sure I'd experience Humunga-Kowabunga again. I think I'd be content to know that I've 'been there done that'. The same I suppose could be said for Summit Plummet at BB.

Having said all this though, I'll add that River Country is still my favorite Disney water park of all. I love how water parks have evolved, but sometimes I miss the days of a much more simple time at WDW.

1. You rode Summit Plummet and Humunga-Kowabunga? Was that completely nerve-wracking, or are you a thrill-seeker? I think I'd be good to go until I get to the top--then my stomach would start churning...

2. A lot of us are nostalgic for the "early" WDW. I wonder if Disney will use that to give some old attractions a re-birth. Maybe that's what D23 is all about, though--tapping into those of us who love the history and nostalgia of Disney and Disney parks.

I rode them both, back in the late 90s when I was a younger man in my twenties! I haven't done them since, and I'm not sure I'd ever do them again.

Oh how I long for the early days of WDW. At the same time, I love how it constantly changes and improves. It's in a constant state of growth, while never forgetting the past, and isn't that exactly the way Walt wanted it?

I was just reading in Disney Insider that during this week, in 1973, the Swan Boats officially opened at the Magic Kingdom. They only lasted about ten years, as they closed in 1983.

Sadly, I have no memory of ever riding this attraction at all, and I don't know if I ever did, having been so young at the time. Every time I look at the water around the castle, and the old launch near the Tomorrowland bridge, I think about them.

I remember riding the Swan Boats with my Mother when we went in 72-73 ish I was only 7 or so, the memories are very blurry except the Swan Boats, Mission to the Moon, The Haunted Mansion & The Polynesian.

After riding Crush & Gusher last trip, I have decided the Pineapple one in the middle is also my favorite.

Humunga Cowabunga wasn't too bad, but I'm glad I had on a tankini because a bikini would have been GONE! laugh The tankini was pushing it.
