Are these one park or two? If they are two, do you need a special type of ticket to visit them both?

They are two separate and distict parks, although very close together. You need a separate admission ticket for each but most of their tickets are park hopper type passes which allow visits to both parks but you have to buy them as such.

I recommend undercover tourist for UniStu/IoA hopper tickets.
