"Visiting" Discovery Island?

Does anyone know if you're absolutely prohibited from pulling up to Discovery Island in your rented searaycer and exploring a bit? Do they have people watching you all the time out there?

Also, can you rent a boat at one resort and return it to another?

It is my understanding that you can't wander around Discovery Island--even just the dock. They have some lifeguard boats out there that would probably get to you before you could explore too far...

Not sure about renting a boat at one resort and returning to another. Good question.

I'm gonna say don't risk it. There's probably stuff in there that you don't want to encounter--lifeguards aside!
