Walk This Way

I'm curious, how much walking do you do in UNI compared to Disney on an average day?

Nothing like we did at Disney..I reckon about four times as much in WDW compared to Universal..

It's easier to get lost at UNI than at WDW...I reckoned I walked more getting lost than I did at WDW but did more proper walking at WDW.

Well, here are some interesting numbers. Uni Studios is 125 acres and Islands of Adventure is 110 acres. MK is about 107 acres, with the HS being 135 acres, 260 acres for Epcot and 510 acres for Animal Kingdom. So size wise, they're both larger than the MK but surprisingly smaller than Hollywood Studios. But as you can see, Islands of Adventure is roughly the same size as the MK and Uni Studios while smaller than HS, still is roughly close in size.

As for walking, well, I don't think you'll be quite as tired as you would in Epcot or Animal Kingdom but I do think it may depend on what areas of the park you're interested in seeing and what rides you want to go on. Diagon Alley and Wizarding World, the hot tickets in town, are both furthest away from the main entrance of their respective parks. So you definitely don't want to walking back and forth from Wizarding World or Diagon Alley because of the big crowds. I never really found myself tired walking at Uni but then again, I haven't been to Uni in a long time and this was before Potter took over.

When we were there in 2013 we found ourselves more tired at Universal. At Universal, we spent less time waiting around and more time walking from one ride to another. The attractions seemed to be more spread out than at Disney so it felt like more of a walk between rides. The queues were also shorter than the ones at Disney so we didn't get much down time unless we made it ourselves. I'm not sure how it is with the addition of Diagon Alley, but the crowds were much better at Universal.

See we found just the opposite. The lines at Universal were MUCH longer then Disney's when we were there in Oct 2012. We rarely saw a wait over 15 or 20 min at Disney at that time of year where at Universal most of the bigger attractions were at least 45 - 70 min.

Ohhh, weird. Maybe we went when it died down a bit. We actually waited to go on the Forbidden Journey because the queue was too short. Sounds crazy right? We wanted to be able to take in everything in the queue, oddly enough, even after we waited to ride it, the queue still went too quickly to be able to really see everything. It might be crazy busy again since Diagon Alley opened not too long ago.
