Walking from the Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios

For our anniversary trip in 2014 we are hoping to stay at the Boardwalk. We spent some time over there our last trip and me and hubby really liked it. One of the big things we are looking forward to is being able to walk to Epcot cause that's one of our favorite parks. We were looking at it on google maps last night and it appeared that it was a pretty far walk to Hollywood Studios. Has anyone ever walked to Hollywood Studios from the Boardwalk? How far is it and is it doable or just eaiser to take the boat?

It is doable but when you take the boat and sit the whole way, it is much easier than walking. Smile

When we were at the beach club we walked to hs. We thought it was a nice stroll. I think it took us maybe 10 minutes. We did take the boat once, and that was fun.

We did it last week. It wasn't bad at all, but I can imagine that if I was going to the park, it would be a little tiring to walk all the way there, then walk around the park all day. Walking to Epcot would be no problem though!

Man, I'm glad someone asked this question lol. I was concerned about the same thing. The big problem that I read about today, was someone who was staying at an Epcot resort. I forget whether it was Beach Club or Boardwalk Inn, but anyway, they complained that in order to get to DHS for rope drop, you need to walk, because the boat doesn't start service until at least 8:30 if not 8:45, and that's not soon enough. So in order to make it for park opening (which I'm looking to do for every day when my girlfriend and I are there due to July heat and crowds), we'll just walk to our couple days at DHS.

Boat! We took a walk from BWV to HS once and it wasn't tooooooooooooo bad but I much prefer the sitting after a long day of parking it. But that's just me.

Or you could take the bus

Find out what time the Friendship boats stop running though. It seems like I've had to walk back a time or two because I've missed the last boat. I don't think they run as long as other transportation.

We took the boat from HS to the Beach Club when we had breakfast at Cape May. I was sitting there thinking "man I would not want to do this walk" as we were riding there. Haha! I think it is a little over a mile walk, and for me, my feet get enough walking time during the day at the parks, so I take EVERY opportunity to sit!!!

And about the boat service times getting you to HS before the rope drop, you might want to check, because I know we got on the boat at 8:15 to go to Cape May, so they were already running.

According to the WDW site, all transportation starts one hour before park opening.

"Complimentary Resort Transportation

Complimentary transportation throughout Walt Disney World Resort"including transportation to and from Disney Theme Parks and Disney Water Parks"is available to Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Avoid the hassle of driving and parking, and save time and money with complimentary transportation throughout Walt Disney World Resort.

Take in the sights from an air-conditioned bus, soar high in the sky aboard our world-famous monorail, or embark on a relaxing boat ride"and take advantage of door-to-door service that delivers you from your Resort hotel to all Theme Park gates and throughout Walt Disney World Resort.

Complimentary transportation is available one hour prior to Disney Theme Park opening time up to one hour after Disney Theme Park closing time. Additionally, buses operate until 2:00 a.m. from the Downtown Disney Area. Certain areas of Walt Disney World Resort are also connected by well-lit, paved, low-grade walking paths."

It's not a bad walk. It will take about 10-15 minutes depending on your walking speed. The boat is much more relaxing, but sometimes at night near park closing the wait for the boat can be a bit. Instead of waiting you can walk back to the hotel faster. The Boardwalk/Beach/Yacht Club resort area is one of my favorite areas to stay at Walt Disney World. One reason is that ability to walk to Epcot and the Studios if you want, or just hop on that boat to head over.

We like the walk from BW to HS. It would not be bad first thing in the am before it gets too hot. It's not too long of a walk, and we always have to wait for the boat, sometimes in a long line. The boat is a nice relaxing ride, just may have to wait. I agree with the walk there, boat ride back when you're tired.

It pretty short. I would say perhaps a half mile or less. In October I started feeling ill in France and we were able to make it to the lobby of the Beach Club for me to sit down and rest. I'm not sure I could have made it much farther.

We chose BWV as our home resort because of proximity to Epcot. I would say it is a 5-10 minute walk from Epcot to both the Boardwalk and Beach Club. For us, whether to walk or take boat from the Boardwalk to DHS depends on location of room and the temperature. From some rooms you can walk half way to DHS, in same amount of time it takes to reach the boat landing. There are other rooms at Boardwalk where it is a shorter walk to the Swan/Dolphin boat landing. Boat goes from Boardwalk to Yacht Club to Swan/Dolphin to DHS. One time the DHS boat had just pulled away, but we were able to walk over to the Swan/Dolphin before it arrived. Often on the return trip, we get off at the Swan/Dolphin and walk back to BWV to save time.

Hot and humid, take the boat! There is no bus service from the Epcot resorts to DHS( except for a short time last year, when they were refurbishing the boats). We have never been late for rope drop at DHS when taking a boat around 8:30 AM. enjoy your stay!
