WDW from resort to resort

Hello,

How can I travel from my resort to another? How long should it take?

I have an ADR at Boma's, AKL, and I am staying at All-star movies. I read that buses do not travel from resort to resort, so I would have to first get to DTD or somewhere then transfer to another bus going to AKL. My reservation is for 8:45pm and we will be at HS that day until 7:00pm. We will have our car there (all-star movies), so we could just drive, or just ride the bus straight to AKL from HS. I suspect it could take a while to get on the bus just when the park is closing.

You know, honestly, I would just drive in that instance, because you will definitely have to go from resort to park/ DTD to resort, and it's kind of a hassle. Catch a bus back to the resort, pick up the car, and go. Better yet, drive to HS, and take your car to AKL. Smile Do you think you might need to factor in shower/changing time? If so, the car is definitely the way to go.

If you go the "pure" bus route, from Resort to Park/DTD to Resort, I would budget AT LEAST an hour. And with you wanting to stay at DHS til 7, and an 8:45 reservation, I think you'd be cutting it close to go back to the resort and utilize transportation.

SO - to sum up (since this is so convoluted) - either bus directly from DHS to AKL (expect crowds, but even so you might have to sit around and wait for your ADR) or car to DHS and onto AKL, possibly with a stop at your resort.

Haha - clear as mud, yes? I hope that helps a little Smile

I agree, since you'll have your car, just drive. There will be a gate guard at AKL, just let them know you have a dinner reservation and they'll let you through.

The line from HS to AKL at close is always GIGANTIC. Most of the time I'm too impatient to deal with it and take a cab. So, if you already have a car, I say you should drive.

I say drive the car too, although we always drive. Make sure you have your parking pass on your dash board also and have your room key out when you pull up to the guard shack. It just makes it much easier. And if you have used valet already that day, valet will be free there also.

Because you are staying at a Disney Resort you have a free parking pass and that means you can park at any of the parks and resorts for free so yes definately drive.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

It certainly seems, driving will be our best option if we want to get back to our room first, and save us time from AKL back to the value resort. We have two days where we have ADRs at different resorts, and the schedule is kind of tight.

Sunday we leave HS around 7:00 after Fantasmic to eat at AKL, Boma's at 8:45.
Monday we leave AK around 7:00, closing time, to eat at Chef Mickeys, Contemporary at 8:25.
The other days we'll be eating at the parks we're visiting. I guess we'll use the bus those days, and the car on Sun and Mon. If we decide the bus lines are too long, we can keep using the car. I really don't want to use a tank of gas to commute from our resort to parks. But, I guess that $60 should be the least of my worries, LOL.

I think that, unless you are super impatient (like my husband), the busses will be fine. It's only when you have the time crunch that you've presented that I would say the car is the way to go. You'll most likely be able to park the car most days.

On the bright side, if you do find yourself using the car a lot, I seriously doubt you'll run through a tank in a week...and if you do, the gas at the Hess stations on property is shockingly affordable! It's not inflated like you'd think it would be.

If you were hoping to have a few drinks, you may want to consider taking a cab. I took one from AKL to Wilderness Lodge this September and I think I recall it being around $16. All-Star Movies is very close to Animal Kingdom so it should be quite a cheap ride.
