Caitie and I were talking about this thread today and realized we also collect Disney art though our collection right now is small. Tour our house and you'll find one large Beauty and the Beast figurine set, a sorcerer's apprentice figurine, a Lady and the Tramp figurine, a poster with a bunch of different characters, three small pictures: one of the gang, one of three princesses and their prince, and one of Mufasa and Simba. We also have, though we haven't had it framed so it's still rolled up a large painting of "the gang" we plan to hang over our bed.

Sounds like you guys have quite the collection going! One of my favorite Disney artists is David E. Doss. He does mostly beach scenes with Mickey and the Gang as accents. I really like his piece with beach pails depicting the Disney World parks.

I've also always wanted the Jessica Rabbit big fig. I have NO idea where I'd put it, but I love it.

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about.
One of my favorite things to do in Disney is look in the art galleries and pick out the ones we'd want but can't afford Smile I also like marveling at the crystal Castle that costs almost as much as my yearly income. I always wonder who in the world would get it, but I then think that if I had the disposable income to, I would TOTALLY buy that!

Crystal castle, free Mickey Bar delivery at all hours of the day, Buzz Lightyear as your chauffeur, free ride-alongs at the race track, showers that rain pixie dust instead of water...

That crystal castle has been there for so many years. I'm surprised none of the celebrities that frequent the parks has purchased it yet. Or maybe they have several of them...

Awesome collection, mrhub! I love all the pirates glasses!

I recently (about 2 years ago) started collecting magnets. I've moved cross country two times in 2 years and I've become a bit adverse to amassing stuff. Magnets are small, cheap, and knowing that they are my "thing" stops me from buying all that other stuff that I'm usually drawn to.

Most of my magnets come from parks, zoos, museums, etc. I display them on my fridge. It's a small collection...for now!

Some places I've opted not to buy a magnet, with the intention of making my own using our own photos. Yeah...haven't gotten around to that yet.

Disney:
I collect pins... coming out of my ears.

I also have a collection of Disney movie mugs that are on display in the kitchen above our cabinets. They are not for use, dispaly only.

Non-Disney:
Hard Rock Cafe guitar pins

Crystal figurines (a few Disney ones are in there too, I suppose)

Non-collection side note: We do not collect postcards, but we mail one home to ourselves from every vacation as a fun keepsake. Castaway Cay postmark is a fun part of those keepsakes.

We always have to get a snowglobe, but it has to come from MK. We also always pick up kitchen stuff from the Chef Mickey store. Oh and of course something from the Christmas shop. biggrin I guess we have to get a little of everything!

I collect all things Mickey. I have done so since I was a kid. I have tons of Micky stuff, from telephones, to prints, to cells, to figurines,to plates, to snow globes, to ear hats, to... well you get the idea. The oldest is this Mouse in the box from 1954, and my newest addition is this Steamboat Willie.

The only major thing I collect from Disney are pins. Really need to get them back up... got a lot more to put up. Especially some awesome ones from my birthday that my parents got me while they were there. Told them from now on... they must go to Disney before my birthday, OR we celebrate it AFTER they return.... lol

I collect anything Potato Head. It started as just a fun toy for my kids. Now it is fun for my grandchildren although I do have tons that are still boxed up. I let them play with the ones not still in boxes. Besides the ones that you piece together, I have small toys from McD and BK that I had gotten years ago.

My hubby feeds my habit too. laugh

I collect 3 items.

1) PEZ dispensers. I'm not 100% sure how it started but one day I realized I had been collecting them. Now I have over 150. I have given some to my younger cousins. My favorite ones are my superhero collection, especially wonder woman, My Snow White and seven dwarves box set. My The Impossibles collection and my Democrat/Republican ones from the 2008 presidential election.

2) Turtles. Turtles have always been my favorite animal. I never wanted to own one because they smell bad and my mom only wanted it in my room. So I just started to gather turtle items. My favorite items are my leather keychain from Florence, handpainted turtle clan from Galveston, and the newest one that I use every day - Coach turtle keychain that was discontinued 3 years ago and DH hunted a brand new one down on ebay.

3) Disney figurines. The old glass and ceramic ones. I have a bunch from when I was little and I've gathered a few more over the years. When we were in WDW I looked for them and they don't make them anymore. I was extremely sad. Especcially since my 2 favorite ones broke during the wedding festivities. My little cousins were sleeping in my old room and they got to playing with them and left 2 on the floor and their dad stepped on them. Those were Tink and Daisy. I do love my Goofy one as well.

Every year we have our little traditions. The first thing I buy is a Disney baseball, they each site on a pile of coins left over from the trip. The first thing my wife buys is the autograph book and pen, the only thing is that they don't change design every year. Together, we buy those little(ish) ceramic Mickey's with the year on it. Last trip was in 2010, he was sitting on a suitcase with '2010' on it.

I also save shot glasses... I have one from nearly every state and quite a few from WDW. I also save mugs. I'm just a mug freak and I just love the Disney ones. It's hard to chose which one I want when I go. I usually will get the "year" mug and then another one. I've also been collecting shirts from what resort we've stayed in. I'll never get one from the Disney Inn. We went there on our honeymoon many moons ago... it's now the Shades of Green. I do need to go over to the Movie Value Resort and get that one. It's so much fun collecting.

I collect something really lame haha. I have 4 plastic Princess cups! They just sit on a helf in my room, with my Rapunzel and Flynn dolls. I like them though Smile I also have a charm bracelet and every time I go, I get a couple new charms! I wear it everyday to always have a piece of Disney with me!

Not one item per say. I like to grab anything I see with Alice in Wonderland characters or Eeyore.
