We usually hire a pet sitter, but I wish there was a way for them to be out of cages and with someone all the time.

My parents have friends that will take their dog if they are gone. It helps that she is adorable and well-behaved, but there are four different friends the dog stays with depending of length of time gone and time of year. One couple even lets the dog sleep in their bed!

The cats just roam the house per usual. If we are gone for more than a few days our neighbor comes in for the food and litter.

I wonder if our cats like it better when we're not around bothering them. laugh

Haha - they probably relish being alone Brad! Not that it has anything to do with you, of course - just their reported independence! Ha!

We take Gus with us and board him at Best Friends and visit him several times a day. WE get the larger cage-free VacatioN Villa which as plenty of room. We just don't know anybody here in Charlotte well-enough yet to trust with a key to our house and to take good enough care of him.

2 years ago I took Colby, our pug, to a kennel. He didnt like that at all, so I vowed after that I wouldnt do that to him again. So last year I payed a friend of mines son $100 to have him come over and spend at least an hour a day with him so he didnt feel abandoned. Colby was also left out. He is actually litter trained, so my friends son just had to change his box everyday.

We book our dogs (2 westies) into our local kennels. They have a large run and twice daily walks around the nearby lake. They seem to enjoy it so much that they don't always notice us straight away when we go to collect them and head off in the direction of the lake.

We take Reilly to his vacation home my in-laws. He loves it there..our cat usually stays home since we typically do short trips and a neighbor checks on him. He likes it when we leave!

Since I always go to disney for over a week, my two dogs stay with my parents and my cats stay home. The dogs love it at my parents', it's like a 24/7 birthday party there for them.

We get my sister-in-law to come over and check on the cats once a day and give them food and cuddles. My cats hate it when we go away. They're attention hogs and always want to be close to people. They also love the dogs and miss them when they're gone.

We bring ours to my in-laws. Has anyone used Best Friends Pet Care?

If you do, how often do you visit your pets while in Disney World?

Here's Gus the adorable dachshund's report card from best friends. Jeff (Gus' human) also has some info about his experience in his trip report.

Wow, was I a talkative one in that TR! Haha.

We were pleased with Best Friends overall, Catherine. But we decided tos top by 3 times a day to take Gus on a walk and check on him - first thing ni the morning, once after lulnch, and again before going to bed. He just did not like peeing on concrete, and seemed to want to "hold it" for us. But that's jsut our dog - we don't board him very often. And we were at POFQ, so it was super-easy to drop on by on the way in or out.

The staff there is great! Feel free to ask any questions. We're boarding again there in September.

And thanks Brad! Smile

my baby is going to my aunt's house so be pampered and fussed all day long. This is the first holiday I've had to worry, as we lived with my parents up until this year so my baby (cat) stayed there and they looked after her - they would have her now but I dont want to confuse her too much taking her back there and they have 2 dogs (1 new one) that she doesnt really like... and my aunt doesnt work so she will be home all day with her, she's used to me being home all day most days so she likes a good cuddle Smile

Cats are nice because you can leave them like that more easily. Dogs get much more upset about the whole business.

We put our dogs into the local boarding kennels that we've been using for over 10 years. They seem to love it there and never look worried when we drop them off. They are always pleased to see us when we pick them up though, that is if they don't run straight past us towards the lake where they get walked twice a day.

I'm not sure I would agree. It must depend on the cat. We've never boarded ours or taken them anywhere; we usually have someone in twice a day to feed/scoop/socialize - but they can really hold a grudge. My cat would also climb in the suitcase everytime I started packing, and would start meowing. He knew what was up and he wasn't happy about it.

Our two cats can be left alone for a week. They use to get so mad at us, but now they are happy when we get back. But having them both together has to make them deal with it better though. We had left Stitch (Our oldest pet and cat) alone before for a couple days and he was fine... but I can see some cats if alone not liking it.

We have a pug too...an older pug...she'll be 12 in July. I was nervous about her care while we are away. She's never been kenneled and I don't know how well she'd adjust to it now this late in her life. She usually either goes with us if we go away or family/friends take care of her. Well, as it happens, my in-laws will be in New Orleans part of the time that we will be at WDW, so they were not an option. Luckily I was able to get the name of a pet sitter from a friend whom I trust. So, we'll see how it goes!

Hi ToriB, dont think I welcomed you yet so welcome. We have a pug also and I would go with the pet sitter as well. Our pug needs alot of attention, so one of our kids watch him while we are away usually. We did have a friends daughter stay at our house too once and that worked well too. He was still at home and had someone to cuddle with at night, and someone was watching the house as well. (our pug is very very very very spoiled).

He is our baby!

Mr. Hub! You have a pug and didnt tell me! Can we now have this little club for pug owners?!?!?! LOL

And since you two have your pugs all dressed up... here is Colby in his Ohio State Jersey!

And a pet sitter is the way to go. I boarded Colby 2 years ago, and I dont know what happened at the Kennel, but he did not like it one bit. So last year we just had someone come over for an hour or so to spend some time with him. He was a much happier puggie... lol

Great shot Mase. Thought you knew because I posted his pic before. We just call him "mister". He adopted us several years back. Scrappy found hin running down the road when he was about 8 months old and no one ever claimed him. Scrappy didn't want to keep him at the time, but he grew on her very fast, and now well..........i'm sure you know how you can get attached to pugs. He is pretty much our life. I think the world revolves around him at times lol and I know he thinks that!.

I have no idea how I missed that... I love pugs and guess I missed it! lol

I cant believe you found a pug just running around. That boggles my mind, but so glad he found a home with you guys! When I was a kid I saw Men in Black, and Frank made me want to have a pug soooooooo bad. Just loved Frank! Well... my Dad is allergic to animals, so I wasnt able to get a pug till a little over 3 years ago. Called a breeder, and BAM

AND.... just for fun because we know how much fun pugs are!

Heres my Photobucket folder with Colby in it and when he was a baby: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v378/Cywolve/Colby/

OMG!! Love the pic of the pug with the binky!! Hysterical! Just so sweet as pups....awwwwww...

Yes, Buttercup was a hit at the prom. Perfect size 18 months toddler clothes; easy to rework the dress for her! And, a as a dear sorority sister of mine used to say, "A lady is never complete without her pearls!!" LOL

So cool to find fellow pug lovers on here awesome
