What is the Expedition Everest Challenge after party like? I've seen quite a few posts talking about being able to get on the rides, but not many describing the party itself.

I wish i could answer that, but I can't, so I won't. But what I can do is say WELCOME to our forum.

Hey Kenny! Welcome to the boards!
We didn't stay for a long time afterward because it was pretty crowded and one of the rides (I can't remember which) wasn't running. There was some snacks and stuff but I didn't feel like there were a lot of activities or anything. Primarily just tired people standing around talking about how much fun they had. I will say that I've seen subsequent after-run parties and they've seemed like they've done more, so maybe they've improved on that front.
Thanks for the response and warm welcome. I was iffy on it, since it wasn't included in the price of the run. That said, I'll probably cave and end up getting tickets anyway. Maybe I can eat enough snacks to make up for the cost...the Kali River Rapids might be cool after the run.

You know I thought they said they weren't doing one next year, but I searched and found lots of info on it. I bet the party might actually be more worthwhile if it's a separate ticket, rather than included in the run.
Oh wait..I got brains..watch me use 'em!

I should also have noted that the time we did it was the year before last, so things may have changed since then.
Bella -- Expedition Everest Challenge is (at least when we did it) a 5k + a little obstacle course at the end and the a party afterwards in the park. It's kind of fun to run through the AK and particularly fun to run from the regular park back to Planetwatch. Get to see some things you probably wouldn't otherwise.
When we did it, it POURED rain. Like it was literally above my ankles in a puddle you had to run through to get to the finish line. Was still a blast though.
Obstacle course you say?
I wonder why they don't have the mother/daughter team category this year??? I would think it would warrant a category of it's own considering you will most likely have one middle aged and one older person or one middle aged and one younger/teenish person. I had hoped for this category - not b/c I want to win by all means but I'd like my times to be matched to others in a similar situation - now our times will totally suck next to a team of two strong females that run alot
Oh well - we're just in it for the fun anyway but I was happy they had a mother/daughter category in past years and looked forward to that again.
Hi! ezequief and to WDWFG. I know a little less than absolutely nothing about running (that's why Corvettes are made) but I just wanted to say Hello! and we do have quite a few runners here who can chime in.
Great writeup, Dave! You mentioned how your wave started first... last year, my wave started LAST!! Gaaack. I have to say, that was hard... watching the early starters finish the race and the obstacle course, when we had yet to even BEGIN! But the advantage to starting last is that you run most of the course in the dark, which is really cool.
Welcome to the boards Kenny!
It sure sounds like a fun experience!
