What if......

I've got a couple of topics rolling around in my head to get some discussion going around here so I will start with this one...

What if you could only do either Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Carribean.....which would you choose?

Real tough question but I think my nod would go to Haunted Mansion. However I think PoC would be a close 2nd.

Ooh that's a tough one. I'll say Pirates...wait maybe Haunted Mansion...no I'll stick with Pirates. I'm saying Pirates strictly for the reason that every time I'm in the line for the ride I always meet the most interesting people. That's where I almost always meet my adopted Disney family for my vacation.

Pirates for sure. There never seems to be a wait and the drop is always fun.

Pirates.... just love it to much. That misty waterfall they have with the squid head rocks.

Plus its one where if you do get stopped... its at the end and there is a lot to see. With HM.... you can get stuck going up or down and that gets annoying

I'd have to say Pirates, never a wait and if there is I've usually always been inside where it's cool, but I just love this ride.

Haunted Mansion is the best themed ride in the World (other than maybe Splash Mountain). HM gets my vote.

I think I'll go with HM. I haven't seen the new queue yet, and I go on POTC much more often, so...there you go.

I'll say Haunted Mansion for 2 reasons...

a) Disneyland's Pirates is MUCH better
b) WDW's Haunted Mansion is better.

For someone who hasnt been to DL... what is the difference between the two pirates? I thought they were the same?

Disneyland's Pirates:
begins in a Louisiana swampland (the attracion is located in New Orleans Square--DL doesnt have Liberty Square), slow moving (and on the right you see the Blue Bayou restaurant)..then you see a skull and crossbones wearing a pirate hat up above a tunnel.. he's telling you to sit closer together because pirates my board the boat..
then you have the first big drop in dark.. after that you have a second drop.. smaller but lit.. in caves where you see the first of the skeleton pirates.
Then you see the skeleton pirate ship, the skeleton pirates partying it up at a bar... the skeleton caption in his quarters.. then you see the treasure room. piles and piles of gold and jewels and treasure chests!!

and THENNNN you see the water screen with Davy Jones.. the rest is pretty much the same until the jail scene...

after that you go through the building?town?ship? thats like.. falling apart from the fire.. and then there's pirates on either side of you shooting at each other.. then you go up the hill and see Jack Sparrow sitting on his throne.. then back out to the queue area

it adds a good 4 or 5 minutes to the ride... it just tells the story better. it was actually better before they added the water screen, because in that area the narrator was telling you about how you "saw the cursed treasure" and that "dead men tell no tales" I kinda liked that more than the water screen. Although that IS a cool effect.

I would agree that DL's Pirates is much better although I didn't think that HM was a clear-cut winner for WDW. There were some things I liked better about DL's HM.

I would pick DL's pirates by a hair over either one's HM.

Hounted Mansion for me, if only because I've ridden Pirates more often than the Mansion so I could even up the balance a bit.

I didn't think HM was a big deal the first time I rode it...then last year I rode it again and had a great time! Come to think of it...the same happened to Pirates!!!

But I think I have to say Pirates does the trick for me. The scene with the ships on fire is awesome.
