What must I do in Disneyland?

So I'm visiting Disneyland for the first time in April. It's finally confirmed and I'm pretty excited! clapping

Those of you who have been, what are the things I absolutely have to check out?

Huge congrats! Headed to the park that started it all! I'd really like to hear your take on the differences between the identical rides in DL and WDW. Zapperz can fill us in on that, too!!

Can't help you since I've never been, but I'll be anxious to hear the response.

Have you already been and I missed it!?

If not, the Matterhorn is a must as it is unique to DL. Also PotC is notably longer making it more awesome. There are subtle differences in most of the rides you're familiar with. The HM, for example - at DL, the stretching room is actually an elevator that goes down. There are a lot of design differences in some attractions. See how many you pick up on (or laugh at me for going through this if your trip has come and gone).

We haven't, we're going next week! I'm really looking forward to the Matterhorn and seeing the classic rides in their original setting, if not their original form. Particularly the extended PotC and It's a Small World. Who would have thought I'd ever be looking forward to It's a Small World?

Nothing in California Adventure really pops at me. They have some good stuff, but it's mostly stuff that's in WDW. When was the last time you were there?

Must do's are:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean
2. It's a Small World
3. Space Mountain
4. Thunder Mountain Railroad
5. Indiana Jones
6. Haunted Mansion
7. Mr. Toad

At DCA, I think you will be there AFTER World of Colors opened. So you should try to see that and report back to us how it is. I don't know of anyone who will be going there ahead of you. I would also do California Screamin' (or whatever it is called now) in Paradise Pier. Don't bother with Tower of Terror or Soarin', especially if the lines are long.

As for food, try Napoli in Downtown Disney - best Napolitan style pizza anywhere in Disney (N. America).

Does the DL BTMRR differ significantly ZapperZ?

The track layout is the same (almost exactly), but the setting/scenery is different. To me it's a different experience, but very familiar at the same time. I prefer the DL version, but it may well be because of its sentimental value.

What's your take Z?

My impression is that the one at DL is a bit longer.. well, it certainly felt that way.

Here, you compare for yourself. Smile

Can't wait to hear all about Mr. Toad. I've heard SO much hype about it -- I'd like to hear if it "lives up."

Great list here ZapperZ. Most of the things I was impressed by are on here.

SpaceAce: Mr Toad was...interesting. The plot is not typical for that kind of ride.
