what new country

Being of Irish/Scottish/Native American decent, I'd be glad to see any of those (I know, Native American isn't a country, but the culture, and food might be interesting). But I'd also be interested to see Russia, Egypt, or Spain. As for room, there's quite a bit of room between Germany, and China, and some between Morocco, and France.

I'd love to see Egypt or Australia! If I had to, I'd get rid of the American pavilion purely because it's the one we spend the least time in!

Got to have an Anartica showcasue built in. It should include nothing but snow. Actually, I am not sure which country I would add or take out, but I did hear once that a Godzilla attraction was considered for Japan. I would love to see that.

There is no question that there's room for 2 more countries at World Showcase. We found that out at the D23 event last year.

I'm pretty hesitant to participate in this thread because what I want to say might offend some people, but what the hey....

I think there are countries that I think are very likely to be added to the World Showcase: Russia, Australia, Brazil.

However, if I have my choice, I would prefer to see countries such as Egypt, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Kenya, Peru, Chille, etc. I think that the World Showcase (and this is where I might get into trouble), is too white the way it is now. I would love to see more "exotic" and unfamiliar cultures from other parts of the world.

The likelihood of that happening isn't too high, though. The requirement for a country to be built at World Showcase is quite daunting, and requires a private company to sponsor the pavilion (not the country itself, with the exception of Morocco) so as not to violate a "no permanent World Expo" regulation. Certainly, Greece and Spain would have been very likely additions, but with both of those countries having economic woes, I don't see that happening anytime soon. The most likely countries that I can see are Russia, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil.

Zapper, if you get in trouble for saying World Showcase is "too white" it is only because people don't understand.

The over-difficulty (I am pretty sure that isn't a word) of creating a pavilion is pretty self defeating in my opinion. Also the fact that more temporary structures aren't created is disappointing. By temporary think of Greece at the Food and Wine Festival , but slightly more "permanent" than that.

In the end putting Brazil between Morocco and France and Australia/ New Zealand in a re-configured area around the outpost (between China and Germany) would do really well and it only makes sense from a financial point of view. The amount of folks from Brazil that would take pride and spend cash there could be amazing. However, I don't think this would create the rainbow effect that including a sub-Saharan African country (Nigeria, Kenya) or South American (Chile, Peru or Ecuador) would create. I would love any or all of those countries.

Totally ignoring the southern hemisphere really is unacceptable. I think there is a lot of amazing opportunity for growth and fun if Disney can get the management motivation to do it.

Zz, I completely agree. I'd love to see a country from South America, Southeast Asia, or a different part of Africa represented.

I agree 100 % also Zz, nothing to get in trouble about there. I'd love to see any of those countries join the World Showcase.

Oh, I just thought of another country that would be a strong possibility - India!

It is exotic enough to a lot of people, it is prosperous enough to have many companies that could finance the building of the pavilion, and it certainly is culturally rich with a very long history of civilization.

Actually I think it's more about the "World" Showcase.

You're right mrhub but I was thinking more of the whole wide world. Sometimes we all need to think outside the box WDW included.

Zapper, I also agree. That's why I keep saying I'd like to see a country from Africa or South America.

I think Mt. Kenya in the back of a Kenya pavillion would be fantasic and I think there is a chance the food would be amazing.

I wouldn't want to get rid of any of the countries but I would like to see Greece, Russia, Australia, or Thailand. Egypt would be really neat too. I think it would be cool with the pyramids and such.

Been thinking that Greece would be interesting with architecture and mythology. I agree with the statement of it perhaps being too white. It is probably a timing issue. I think today we try to expand our cultures a little bit. When Epcot first opened it was more about what countries are most popular. If it were open today, it would probably be more culturally diverse. It is interesting to think about what the differences would be.

Russia or India...the 2 biggest countries in the world, and not represented. The us/Canada shared pavilion is good, or instead you could have a British commonwealth pavilion which would include Canada, Ireland, Australia, etc.

Is Ireland still part of the Commonwealth of Nations? I thought that it lost that status after it became a republic. Or do you mean Northern Ireland since it's part of the UK?

I think that would get a little sticky, since so many of the countries involved have distinct cultures, not to mention their colonial history with Britain. It's a political union, not a cultural one, kind of like if there was one pavilion for all countries who are in the UN.
