what new country

I love all the countries at Epcot but would love to see them add a new one. Maybe Greece or Russia. What would you guy's like to see added, and if they had to get rid of one of the countries already there to make room which one would you pick to get rid of.

I'd love to see Russia or Egypt
I'd probably get rid of the US - (we are in the US after all)

Another idea I'd love to see Norway turned into a Scandinavian pavilion touching on all the Scandinavian countries.

I would pick Greece or Egypt. And yeah, I'd pick US. There's absolutely no need for it. The next country I would get rid of is Canada.

I would love to see Greece in World Showcase, I would also love to see Spain.

If I had to get rid of one it would probably be China, we don't stop there frequently.

I'd like to see an African country get a full pavilion. It's been talked about in the past but never gotten past the initial stages, and I think that since Animal Kingdom is African based it won't ever happen. So my next pick for something that may actually occur would be Russia.

If I had to remove one to make room for it, it would be China. It just doesn't strike me as well laid out and utilized as the others. I wouldn't mind seeing it completely redone either.

As far as America goes, I think that often people from the USA visiting Epcot don't think it's necessary simply because it's something that they're so familiar with already. A lot of the tourists I've spoken to at Epcot who have traveled from non-European countries to Disney actually found it quite interesting, so there's the other side of that thought. Personally, I think it's important to have the host country on display as well, if only for ceremonial purposes.

I agree with you about the American Pavilion being important both as the host country and for non-American visitors. My problem with it is that it's a little boring, there's no street of shops, you don't really walk back into it. Perhaps like Africa and Animal Kingdom, it's an issue that the Magic Kingdom has that design in Liberty Square and they didn't want to repeat the colonial thing to that great of extent.

Rather then a new country, I'd just like to see China overhauled. I agree that we rarelly stop there now but it could do for some big improvements!

I also don't think the US pavilion should be removed and China needs an overhaul. The one country I could do without is Canada...we rarely stop there. I would like to see Greece or Russia as well.

I'd like to see Austrailia but in AK not Epcot. They could have the animal exhibits with Kangaroos, Dingo, Wallaby, Tazmanian Devils, and Koalas.

I had read a while ago that the african outpost was supposed to be a full pavillion, but then ak was thought of and they stopped building africa and left it what it is today.

Yep, that's what I read as well. The World Showcase just seems a little unbalanced to me sometimes. Out of the 11 countries displayed, 5 are European, 3 are North American, 2 are East Asian, and 1 is North African.

There have been a lot of countries listed as "Coming Soon" and they never did. It is a very difficult process too be chosen /invited to be a part of the World Showcase.

This web site has some history of EPCOT and countries that never panned out. Lost EPCOT

If they add another country, I would like to see one from a continent/region that's currently underrepresented or not represented at all. An African or South American country would be great. Something from Central Asia would also be cool.

Very cool, thank you mrhub! The process behind getting a spot in the Showcase is crazy. If memory serves me right, Morocco's spot was actually petitioned and paid for by the Kingdom of Morocco and is the only pavilion to be created in that way.

From what i remember that is true i also believe they actually sent people over from Morocco to build it to keep the religious integrity.

Yeah, isn't it amazing?! Another country's king saw that Disney World, specifically Epcot, was so influential on a global scale that he was willing to not only fund their seat at the lagoon but also sent some of their best artists and architects over to make sure it was perfect. Walt would have been proud.

While at the World last month, I spoke with a CM about Africa. She did not say that it was going to be replaced, however she did state the since the opening of Animal Kingdom, the Africa pavilion is floundering. That leads me to believe that Africa will eventually be replaced. I think it should be, due to the fact that it is representing a continent and not a country.

now, for a replacement? I think we could all enjoy a Louisiana pavilion?

Africa should be replaced with Australia. Good red wine! American Pavilion needs a TS restaurant. Liberty Inn is the best we can offer international visitors? If I could rearrange the countries, I would switch France and Mexico. La Cava is the only reason we visit that side of the lagoon.

I'd be okay with a US/Canada shared pavilion. That would make space for something else as well.

There is no need to share. We had a thread about this same topic a while back and there is room around the lagoon for at least four more full sized pavilions. I wish I could resurrect that thread, but I briefly looked and could not find it, but I will try again tomorrow.

I think Brazil would be an awesome addition or India or an Eastern European country - maybe Russia or Hungary. Spain would be great or even Thailand - Indonesia.

Redesigning the 'World' to broaden the experience is a tricky thing. . . wink

This might be the start of what your thinking about VL:

Also there is a link towards the bottom that dsoup has about the architecture of the WS.

We are heading to Epcot in a couple of weeks, so I'll be looking to see if I can tell that there is room to add more! My husband and I honeymooned at Disney last summer, but we only were at Epcot from six to midnight, because we had to pretty much do a couple parks a day. I want to do the "drinks around the world thing."
