When college finals are done, we have a weekend in Alpine Helen, GA.

I'm hoping to fit in a Charleston or Savannah trip in the fall. Then Disney in December muchlove and back to PA for Christmas!

Have you done the trip to swim with them? I can highly reccomend it. Not sure if I am allowed to say what tour company we went with when we did it.

someone told me it was like super illegal to touch one in the wild, which is true. but then I asked if there was any company or something you could do something through and they said something along the lines of "no way! you can't get close enough or its illegal!"

There was a long list of rules when we went, things like not being able to go into certain parts of the river, only touch them with one hand, don't completely surround them and never get between a mother and her calf. Google "swim with manatees orlando" and you'll find lots of tour companies offering the experience. It'll cost about $100 to PS130 including transport depending on the package you go for.

Golly. I can't drive in any direction without passing a Sheetz eventually. Amazed those of you who moved away are waxing nostalgic for them.

Thank you so much! I'm totally planning this for me and my friends if I move to Orlando! They will be so excited!

Haha! I seriously crave their hotdogs. And 2 hotdogs (w/sauerkraut) for 99c? That's insane. I need a ticker for my countdown to more Sheetz hotdogs laugh

Good afternoon!

I went to Cape Cod on a Starr Tours (http://www.starrtours.com/) escorted bus tour for four days and three nights, June 17-20, 2012. Went to Martha's Vineyard and did a Provincetown dune tour in an SUV. Ate lots of seafood at Seafood Shanty in Edgartown (where the film "Jaws" was made in March, 1975; so when the actors were told to get out of the ocean, they happily complied) and at the Lobster Pot in Provincetown. I'd never seen Cape Cod, supposedly so named because the codfish were so plentiful that one could walk to shore on their backs, and it was on my bucket list.

Sadly, no Disney trips (or any other trips) planned for this year or next year. I'd like to kill off my credit card debt first.

That sounds like a great trip Jim. It's on our list of places to go someday too. Do you do a lot of the smaller get-aways, or was this your first?

Much more than I ever notice in London!

Hi finngirl,

It was my first-ever trip to Cape Cod. I forgot to mention that after we got back to Woods Hole, MA on the ferry from Martha's Vineyard, and back to the Heritage House Hotel in Hyannis (259 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601; phone 1(508) 775-7000), I walked a couple blocks to McKeon Field and took in a Cape Cod Baseball League game, the Cotuit Kettleers at the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, but I stayed only three innings because I was tired from the day's outing.

I don't take a lot of little getaways (it was only my second Starr Tours vacation, the first being June 15-16, 2003 to the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY) because I do not drive and must always keep in mind how to get around without a car. Taxis are expensive so are a last resort; I prefer to use trains and buses if available. That's one reason that WDW is such a great destination; if you're staying on property, Disney Transit is pretty efficient. Other places to visit with good public transportation are any major cities along the northeast corridor (Boston, NY, Philly, Washington).

I've started to plan trips where I don't have to drive either. DH has medical issues and doesn't have a license, so I do ALL the driving for us. I love the buses at WDW - I know that people complain about the waits, grumpy people, etc., but for me it's a true vacation to get to be a passenger for a change.

We have done a few tours with Caravan - we were pleased with them. You are right - with a tour, you don't have to worry about how you will get around your destination cities, unless you go off on your own for a day. It seemed really strange to do a tour of the Rockies with an American company (we are Canadian!), but I couldn't find a Canadian company that offered so much of what we wanted for a reasonable price. When I saw some of the roads our driver was handling, I was doubly glad that I wasn't driving!

Planning a return to Mammoth Lakes, CA in October for our anniversary. This is where we spent out honeymoon and try to go back to at LEAST once a year. So excited for this!

We went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in May. Nice, lazy beach trip. That and the WDW trip in October will be it for us this year.
