What would you do...?

So I was thinking for my husband's b-day next year (September), we could do a Disney cruise and theme parks. I was thinking of doing a 4-night Bahama cruise which leaves 09-02-2012 (sunday) and then stay at teh Carribean Beach Resort until the following Tuesday.

Have any of you guys ever done both a theme park trip and a cruise on the same trip? Is it crazy stressful?

I haven't, but I have a friend who will be doing it next month, and if I remember, I'll come back and update you. But Disney is soo good at taking care of the details, I'd say it would be totally fine and awesome even! A few days of "run, run, run" in the parks, then chilling on the ship. I would totally do it.

One note of caution, though: there have been a lot of "kids sail free" promotions on Disney, so I expect that the Disney ships will be very crowded with children (not that they wouldn't normally be.) I love kids. I HAVE kids. But I'm not always lovin' 'em on a ship (this past weekend, we did a 3 day Bahamas cruise, just girlfriends. No kids/hubbies. On the pool deck, a woman actually shushed us because she had a sleeping baby. SRSLY?) If you feel the same, you may just want to consider another carrier. There doesn't even seem to be a distinction or fewer kids anymore during "school times" imo.

Oh, this sounds like a GREAT idea for a birthday trip! Keep us updated if you do it. The only advice I've heard is to do the WDW part first, then end with the cruise to relax. But I think if you're not "commando" park tourers, you shouldn't have a problem doing it the other way around.

I'd do wdw first and then relax on the cruise.

just to piggy back on this...
I'm am not a huge fan of kids and I definitely do not want to be around crowds of them when I'm on vacation... HOWEVER..
I've been on 4 Disney Cruises and they really make it a point to cater to their guests that want to be away from kids. The ships are divided into 3 sections.. Kids, Family, and Adult. And I've got to say, on all 4 trips I was impressed at how diligent they are about keeping the 18yr old and up areas free of kids. The same goes for Castaway Cay (the private island)...even on the island now they have a teen section too.
I would suggest not to allow the kid thing make your decision for you--you CAN be away from them if you want to be!

We've thought about that, but it's cheaper to do the cruise first! But either way, it's going to be so much fun!

Hey, DD, that was GREAT info for me! That's always been my fear, but to hear this, makes me EXTREMELY EXCITED to give this a whirl! Thanks for the info/insight.

I've actually witnessed Cast Members "gently escorting" underaged children from the Adult areas. It was pretty awesome lol. Conversely however, adults are NOT allowed on Deck 5 which is where the Oceanear's Lab and other kid areas are. Also, adults may not go into the teen club and coffee house place. But it's fine because they have that for adults as well.

Oh also.. they have BINGO! for cash monies! yay. I won $320 once!

We felt Disney cruises are most awesome than the WDW. And DonaldDork also shared some things about Disney cruises, that is absolutely right. When we visited there we all were friend, so there was no adult with us. But we really enjoyed a lot... Disney Cruises are like "cheers...!!!" to our WDW trip. awesome

I wanted to go on a Disney cruise SO badly before I had kids just so we could do to Castaway Cay..the adults only section sounds like heaven on a stick!

So great news! We've officially booked the cruise this week! So fantastic! We're waiting to book the hotel and such until we can work out the budget, we really wanted to stay at the AKL, but it just might not work Sad But I told my hubby and in-laws that we are definitely doing a park trip as well! They laughed and concluded that i have officially came to the "dark side" and have an addiction! I love this addiction!

IDK... I never did it, but I think the cruise would be better last so you could relax.

I'd try to do the parks part first, then relax on the cruise.

It's a great addiction to have..although sometimes I wonder if possibly a drug addiction might be cheaper laugh
