What's your Disney "specialty?"

My question is:

Which area of Disney knowledge do you think you have the most unusual knowledge in. For me it has to be dining. I've eaten more places than most, more times than most, and I follow it all the time. I figure Joe would be an expert in Transportation and we've got some people who know a ton about History. Do we have a rides expert? Just curious what your Disney "specialty" is.

Good question. I'm with you on dining, though more table-service dining than counter-service dining.

Also, I can be an expert in hotels. I love bouncing from hotel to hotel and checking them all out!

I'm pretty good on the hotels front, too, but I'd have to say my specialty is the Magic Kingdom. I love that park and feel like I could navigate it with my eyes closed. I do need to get back to Tom Sawyer's Island soon -- need to brush up!

I think my strength is the attractions..I love eating and the resorts but changes can come and go and I barely notice but whenever I see a news about a refurb, a show or anything like that I perk up and take notice.

I've stayed at a pretty high percentage of the resorts. I think that might be my area of expertise. biggrin

When I first read this thread my initial instinct was "resorts" for sure..but then I realized that there are still a few resorts I've never even seen in person (SSR, BoardWalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, CSR, POFQ, CBR other than driving by them of course..) so I don't think I could really be as snazzy about resorts as I think I am. It made me realize I need to resort hop like whoa!

I guess I would have to say off-site activities, but that isn't really a Disney speciality.

I think it is. I've always been impressed by how much you know about all the non-Disney stuff. I think you definitely have more experience outside the parks than pretty much anyone on here.

Hmmm....I think mine might have to be shopping Smile)

Not that I necessarily do a lot of actual purchasing but I do LOVE to window shop.

A second area of specialty might be pin trading...I've had good luck finding just the pin I need on the laynard of a cast member in some rather out of the way places.

Window shopping expertise is much less dangerous than regular shopping expertise! laugh

I think that's a big reason why I don't buy a lot on vacation. I spent many years doing a lot of traveling and had my packing (carry-on only) down to a science! It made me really think twice (and sometimes three or four times) about buying things on trips and the training has stuck with me.

After 55 trips Jan and I do have some experience at the WDW. Of course none of it relates to the parks. However, we are old and retired over 12 years. Medical issues and failing investments have just about financially wiped us out. It's obvious that many on this forum have a bit more disposable income than we. We are kind of out of touch with the way things used to be.
As I told a grand child at one point, "Almost everything I have learned or experienced in my life I have forgotten and that which I still remember has absolutely not relavance in this world today."

Joe,
I would say you have several Disney specialties. Your budget always amazes me. Then more importantly your absolute love of the Disney magic. Sure we all love Disney but I am not sure that everyone understands the real Magic. I see the real magic of Disney is your posts.

It's just one of the things that makes this board pretty special to me.
