When Disney Snacks Jump The Shark - Being Trendy

Putzing around the DFB today I cam across this, and had to ask myself, is this really necessary? Don't get me wrong, Disney is trying hard to make their doughnuts a thing and that's fine. But - do they really need to give their already luscious and fan worth rice krispie treats seem like something they are not? I don't know, it just seems to me over the past year they have almost been trying too hard to be on trend, and that just makes it feel so fake.

Disney never had to force being "trendy" before, they just were. The fans decided what they liked and that increased demand. No one told me I had to like Dole Whip, I just ate it on every trip because it's awesome. Lately I feel like the culinary team is working overtime to tell me what I should like, wether I do or not.

What are you thoughts?

They're catering to the social media set these days. They probably hand these out to the influencers so they can take a picture of one in front of the castle and post it on instagram.

I think they're cute though

Since I'm not an influencer and don't do social media and am far from trendy, I would have looked at this and thought "Oh, they made Mickey's head into a Christmas wreath!".

That's what it looks like to me (though I would have wondered why the sprinkles were not red and green.)

That is absolutely what they are doing.

OK. Honestly, I might actually have thought it was cute in red and green as a holiday treat.

Which makes me think that it's not the treat I don't care for, it's the blatant Instagram pandering that has my knickers in a knot. Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky.

The gob of new merchandise based on food is off-putting to me. To be honest, I've started to get very particular about my Disney snacks.

I'm not about it. The only reason I'm going to even go get one of the new character cones is because the Lost Princess one has lemon dole whip and I mean...come on... muchlove

The cones are kind of cute, I really love the look of the Lost Princess cone; but again, all about the instagram pic.
