Where Would YOU Go..For...

A nice meal with Mickey!...?

I have an ADR for Chef Mickey's (pre-RD breakfast), but I keep thinking maybe we should do Cape May instead. She's sorta picky, I know Cape May breakfast can be a bit adventurous as far as the menu goes...and there's a high chance we'll run over to DHS that day too. We've never been in either.

I've only been in CBR, AKL, and WL. So I'm absolutely dying to see the Boardwalk area...the resorts over there..etc. And I'm also dying to ride the monorail..haven't done that either.

And also...just curious, have any of you eaten at Garden Grill for character dinner? How was it?

Thanks again!

I haven't ever eaten in cape may but I have eaten in chef mickey and hated it, didn't like the food, it was like a mad house. Characters couldn't really be bothered... I wouldn't go back there. Saying that there are people who love it. We were a group of adults.

I was checking out YouTube videos and that's what I saw/heard. I didn't know it was so wide open...

It's so loud! Cape May seems so subdued and quiet.

I adore Cape May, it's my favorite Character Breakfast, especially for adults. However Mickey is not there, it's Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto(?). The food isn't overly adventurous, but is a little more adult focused and flavorful than what's at Chef Mickey's. Cape May can get loud when it's crowded, but it's never like the level of Chef Mickeys.

A bunch of gulls flew into the Contempo/Chef Mickey's area through the monorail entrance when were there. Didn't really bother me, but I was wondering if it happens a lot?

I've never seen gulls before, but have frequently seen sparrows.

Ohana for breakfast has Mickey, Lilo, Stitch , and Pluto. It is served family style and very yummy. Plus you get to see the beautiful Poly!! We are going to Garden Grill in a couple months for the first time but from everything I have researched it sounds promising.

OK...I'm going to go the other way here. Donna and I ate at Chef Mickey's...and loved it! Yes...it is loud...there were a lot of kids. Yes...the food is not the best...but it's buffet...c'mon! And the characters? Absolutely amazing! Maybe it didn't hurt we had on our "Newlywed" buttons...but each of them did spend a couple extra minutes at our table. We were able to take lots of pictures. However...those pictures are ones we took. Either Donna with Goofy (whom she fell in love with) or me with Minnie (whom I love) and many others. There was nobody else around to take the pictures...and of all of it...that was the most disappointing part. We would have loved to have us both in a picture or two with one of them.

I LOVED Garden Grill! We are going back on our next trip. The food was really good, the service excellent and the characters were awesome. It was nice and quiet and if you sit in a booth its very private. Almost like you have the characters to yourself! I definately recommend it it was great awesome

'ohana is a good character breakfast

I think the Tusker House is a great choice too. You get Mickey, Goofy and Daisy. You also get a pic premeal with Donald

Hmmm....is there any way you could do BOTH? Chef Mickey's and Cape May?

Because it sounds like you want Mickey, a monorail ride, and some hanging out time at the Boardwalk, but you can't get Mickey without the Contemporary and you can't get the Boardwalk without Cape May. It's wonderful to have problems like this, isn't it? Smile

I gotta say how fabulous O'hana is...breakfast or dinner! You can get your Mickey on there, and the food is awesome!

I haven't done Garden Grill yet, but it's on my Bucket List, so I'll have to let you know after my summer trip!

You guys are going to have so much fun! You're such a great planner...she's gonna love it!!

Thanks everyone! I just decided to bounce on here to see what's going on within the past couple weeks since I really haven't been on here at all lol.

I may be a great planner, but she's actually really pissed that I went behind her back in planning and organizing this trip. I'm actually paying for the entire trip out of my own personal bank account. We don't have a linked account yet (well ok we have a savings acct for our wedding lol, but not checking yet) Sooooo I'm just gonna let things sorta simmer down and hopefully. *HOPEFULLY* by April (the 45 day line) she'll change her tune and we'll be skipping off to WDW in June like I have planned.

..sorry for the tangent..

ANYWAY!

Yes, the ultimate goal here is (1) at least 1 meal with the Mickey gang (doesnt hafta include mickey..a la tusker). (2) Check out the boardwalk. (3) Ride the monorail. (4) Check out Downtown Disney.

I'm gonna just do cape may and forget chef mickeys. Maybe that'll be for another trip...

PS: Ohana breakfast looks AWESOME!!, and Tonga Toast and Kona Coffee will forever be on my to-do list til we actually stay at Poly one day....because a trip to Poly for food will be at Ohana. Period.

Oh noz! I would be so excited if my husband took the initiative to plan, organize, and pay for a Disney trip without me having to lift a finger. As much as I LOVE to plan, I think that it would be really cool to be surprised and not have to do a thing but show up.
