Which Sounds Better?

When we go in April/May my grandma will be with us for 3 days. There are 4 places I'd love to take her to eat...I need to figure this out - help! Here are the places:

Poly Luau - in 2008 she missed this dinner/show because she was in the hospital. This wasn't CJ's favorite, he wasn't impressed with the show but he'd go again and I think grandma would enjoy it.

Cape May Cafe - None of us have been there. Grandma would love the clam bake and we all want to try new places and see different resorts this trip.

Biergarten - grandma hasn't been to this place in YEARS - like before I ever stepped foot in WDW - she loves this type of food and hey, she still has a beer now and then laugh

1900 Park Fare - we all loved dinner there - grandma has never been there. I think she'd enjoy seeing Olivia fall all over the Prince muchlove

We arrive on a Friday and even though we'll surely be there early afternoon - check in at BLT is not until 4 pm. So let's just say that happens and we don't get in our room until 4ish. At first I thought Cape May Cafe for dinner and then back to BLT to watch Wishes would be a great first night - now I wonder of that might be a bit too much? Just because we will have driven all day and then we'll certainly need to stop for some groceries. I wonder if more driving and such would be too much?

I thought maybe the first night we could just hop over to the Poly (our 'home' muchlove ) and enjoy the Luau, then Wishes from our room. Or 1900 Park Fare?

I am pretty sure Saturday is planned - breakfast in the room, pool time, nap time, then Epcot - Biergarten for dinner, tour Epcot a bit and watch IllumiNations.

Sunday is breakfast in the room, MK, lunch at Cosmic Rays, then Cape May Cafe or 1900 Park Fare or Luau????

I can't decide but one of these places need to get bumped sad

If I had to bump one during Grandma's stay, it would be Cape May. The only reason is, I think Grandma would enjoy themes (and shows) even more than we do and (as I understand it) Cape May doesn't have nearly as much to offer in that area. I too think Grandma would like the Luau; I know mine would if she were still with us. Since you have some flexibility with your schedule, I would keep the travel to a minimum on the day she arrives.

Also, don't forget to ask if you can check in early. I've yet to stay at a Disney property, but this is an option at pretty much every normal hotel/resort.

I have to agree. Luau and 1900 HAVE to stay. But with Biergarten and Cape May, I'm not sure. I agree with LIFL that Cape May doesn't offer a show, but it DOES get you guys out to the Boardwalk area and a new resort, which Grandma might really like to see. Plus, she's been to Biergarten before...

They're both in the same area (Epcot), so that doesn't help us to make a decision.

Maybe ask Grandma which one she'd prefer?

The only reason I suggested Cape May is because grandma is a seafood lover and I think she will really love the clam bake aspect. ACK - decisions!

We definitely want to see IllumiNations, which is why I thought eating somewhere in Epcot was a good idea. I kinda wanna surprise her with all this so I really don't want to just ask her - plus she is so easy going she would say she doesn't care! LOL

Cape May certainly fits in better with Epcot. It's actually a very easy walk from there to World Showcase.

Okay - awesome! We could hit Epcot and then monorail it back to BLT. Does it even make sense to take the monorail TO Epcot, then walk to BC for diner and then back to Epcot to get the monorail home or is that just too much? So many people have suggested just driving to BC.

Grandma will be on a scooter so it shouldn't be too much of an issue for her wheelchair

Monorail to Epcot to BC to Back is kind of rough. We actually like to go to drive to BC as an easy entrance to Epcot. We'll go have beaches and Cream for lunch of Cape May for breakfast and then walk in to Epcot from there. We usually have Valet from Tables in Wonderland too, so it's more or less free to Valet there. Makes a very nice walk. I think we actually got that idea from someone on here.

I was told DVCers get free valet too! So, I see - the distance the monorail is to the vicinity of BC is a trek.

I wonder how diner at Cape May, then dessert at Beaches n Cream, followed by IlumiNations would be? Then we'd walk back to BC and get in our car though - does that = traffic jam?

We've done that almost verbatim. No problem with traffic at all. Much better than if you were at the Epcot lot.

I'm excited for you guys. Sounds like a great time. I'm not familiar enough with the restaurants to factor in their locations and the ease of travel to and from your locations.

Thanks! am just finding myself wanting to squeeze to any places in while my grandma is with us and well, that is not what I want to do to her! I want her to have a relaxing time.

I agree on this, but sometimes there's a wait for a table at Beaches and Cream, so factor that into your plans (possibly a 30 minute wait...they don't take reservations). You can always just head into Epcot and get a crepe at the France pavilion for dessert!

I wonder if maybe Beaches N Cream is something we should check out on a different night?

I say, try it that night. If the wait is too long, keep it as a backup on another night. Smile

Of course - why didn't I think of that! Good idea!
