Who are the better trip planners -- Men or Women?

I have a feeling this thread will probably prove me wrong but I am going with women. This is based mostly on how our trips are planned though. MrHub plans nothing. I offered to let him plan our Jan trip to which he responded "you can do it". He is just not a planner in general.

This is of course the point where all the men agree that the women are better at it so that we don't have to do it! laugh

I think we can delve into controversial topics here on WDWFG -- none of us are all that dramatic laugh

What do you think: do men make the better trip planners, or do women?

Women learn early on how to plan. I believe it starts in 1st grade When they discover the boy sitting across from them. As the years go by their efficiency increases. Most men go through life never knowing how every decision they (the man) make has been well planed and pre-implanted in their head. Fine with me. I would only mess things up anyway. BTW it took me over 60 years to understand this.

Joe. isn't that the road to happiness? You should sell that to the world a dollar at a time and you would be a rich rich man

Haha..I am going to be Switzerland here and say it probably depends on the person. I am the planner in my family though..so what does that say really?

Caitie and I plan pretty equally actually. I have to light the fire to get us going usually, but once we do, we both plan (though I always have to make the phone calls also....)

I have to say I'm the planner (I'm a chick, by the way!) in my family, but I know lots of guys who take hold of the spreadsheet and have 407-W-Disney on their speed dial.

I think it DOES depend on your personality. I tend to have an inclination toward the obsessive, so.... Wink

Also, planning the WDW trip is a bit like an early vacation for me. Just thinking about it is fun. I can understand why it would be a chore to some folks, though. It's a LOT of learning, number-crunching, and strategizing...

Our planing goes like this. I will keep looking on the net to see when the Fl. resident rates are offered. When I see them I might say to Jan "Hey Hon! Lets go to Disney the first week in January." (That's just a figurative date.) She'll say "Can we afford it?'. I'll say "Just the deposit. By the time it comes around we might have the money. If not we'll just cancel,"
That's about the extent of our planing. We have always come up with the bread so far. Jan being so much sicker this year has stretched our budget though. Might have to come up with a new plan next time.

In my family its the women (the men are married in LMAO) but the real question is...who is the better planner...me or my mother? Im gonna go with me as she is not the only who wakes up at butt crack of dawn to make ADR's for that 730am slot at Chef Mickeys.

Def women in general. I think back to every family vacation and my mom always did the planning...and once I was 12 I started helping her.

Jason is very good at it, but I find that for anything other than Disney, I do most of the online research.

That's a good point -- what about NON-Disney vacations!? I still do the planning in our house for those.

I still do the non-Disney ones as well. I guess it's just the way I am..Dave likes to help pick where we are going and stuff but that's about it.

Boy you're just spoiling for a fight with a question like that, aren't you? laugh

I've got to go with women. We're used to having to keep things organized, and juggle a lot of balls at once, so it comes naturally to us.

I think it depends on where you're going. If it's somewhere you love, it's going to be easier to plan. So my money's on whoever likes the destination more!

Well... its totally depends on the destination where you would like to go, as well as how you plan your trip. When we plan any trip, my brother always makes the trip plans. Its not so difficult to plan any trip as if you are aware of all the travel tips. We can also get help on net. But the main thing is that if we get the best trip planner weather men or women, we can enjoy our trip without worrying about anything.

I am definitely the planner of the two of us...I am the one who reads the guidebook cover to cover before we even decide on when we should go. When I am finished with the book I usually put it in the bathroom for P. to flip through while "working" in there. I am lucky if that happens.

This doesn't relate to Disney Vacations...it is all vacations...it is actually all areas of life.

We need both of us to make a vacation work though, because I plan things to hopefully find the best way to enjoy them and he brings a sense of ease about it. I am afraid a vacation without him would resemble a military boot camp. Now I plan for "nothing time" where we can just figure things out as we go Smile

We are the same way--we planned a trip to Cocoa Beach before Disney and once we got there Dave actually said "I forgot we were coming here!" I guess I had planned it out so much in my head I forgot to talk about the trip.

I have tried to plan tour last year but couldn't do, as I wasn't having knowledge about various destinations. My brother always takes initiative to plan tour and he is the best tour planner ever. We had trips to most of the countries far from my home. We really enjoyed as we never faced any problem. awesome

In our household it is me that plans the Disney trips as my wife has a stressful job and spends her life making decisions and planning, come to holidays and she lets me sort it all out an unwinds! (or that's she tells me!)

I think it's dependant on the personality

Richard and I plan out different things and bring up completely different points on for a vacation

Melinda has to plan everything and I just fly by the seat of my pants. It works well this way. She gets to know what we are doing that day, but we are open to anything that happens to look interesting.
