Who's a Waterpark fan?

I've only been to Typhoon Lagoon, and, though I enjoy it, I haven't been in years. Can anyone sell me on Blizzard Beach, or does anyone head to the waterparks religiously??

One trip, we did Blizzard Beach almost every day. It was late Sept into early Oct. & it was HOT. That was the Family Gathering for DS's 10th B-Day & we had 21 people. DH & I often took Max who was 10 & nephew who was 6 over to BB to cool them off for a couple hours every afternoon. We had a ball.

Then a couple years ago, Max & I went for Free Dining & WaterParks. We did TL & BB. It was a ball. But I'll only do the waterparks if it's at least 85. I hate freezing in line.

Last Mother's Day trip, we did BB so Max & my friend could do Summit Plummit, but we only did a few other slides besides that - Max wasn't "feeling" the water park that day.

This coming trip, we're planning a few hours at TL. I like the themeing better at TL, although the slides at BB are tough to beat. Who knows? We may do both if we feel like it.

That said, it's like 4 trips out of nearly 20 that I've done any waterparks. It's not huge on our list, but we always love it when we do do it.

Every afternoon? Did you have a waterparks annual pass, or did you have to pay each day? Sounds like fun either way!

And do you ride summit plummet?!?

I don't remember what the ticket was called back then - Ultimate Length of Stay or something - It included all the Parks, Water Parks & PI - no limits for the entire length or your trip.

Nope, I don't do Summit Plummit....yet. I may try it this time if I can stop imitating a chicken laugh

Now when it comes to rides I'm pretty much an anything goes kind of guy. They can be scary but that's part of the fun. When it comes to water slides...I don't have the same courage. Those water slides where there's nothing holding you in and you appear to be dropping straight down, I must confess...they intimidate me.

I love the waterparks - except tat they changed their policy. You used to be able to wear goggles on the slides with a doctor's note and now you can't at all...which sucks for people who need them!

ETA- River COuntry USA was the best waterpark - I was so upset when I found out it was closed1

That would be great--I'm always worried that I'm going to lose my contacts on that last big SPLOOSH

I was reading this thread and wondered: Why do they ban goggles?

Excellent question. Maybe the pressure of some of the slides could dislodge them and pop your eye out. Just a thought.

A rather grim one!

I've always enjoyed BB & TL. I think the slides are a bit better at BB, but I like TL better overall (the scuba with sharks thing is cool).

I think they are just worried about people getting hurt...

I actually had an eye accident where my goggle hit the side of the pool and my cornea exploded (REALLY long story). But that only happened because I have super thin corneas....the pressure wouldn't be enough to hurt anyone else.

So really...I ave NO idea why they would say that. Usually a doctor's note is enough, but not for Disney!

How does one know one has super thin corneas? Now I'm scared.

Everyone I hear prefers Typhoon Lagoon. Should a newbie try both or do TL first?

Your eye doctor would tell you. I have had LINES of eye doctors looking at my super thin corneas and eyes. You would know!

If you have time, I would do both. I really enjoyed going to each (at least the first time), then subsequent visits, you can hit the one you liked best. For us, it worked out really well having "water park days" because it's a more laid back pace and then as a bonus you have your evenings free (for things like this pillowfight ).
