WL or POFQ

Hello all - I've been lurking on these boards for a while now, and I figured it was time to finally say hi!

The DH and I are planning a trip for next January - I know it's a long time away, but I've lately gotten bit by the WDW bug again and I'm already obsessing about it Smile

We've been twice before - staying at POFQ and Coronado Springs. We loved the theme and size of POFQ, but honestly CS didn't do it for us - it was too big (we paid for a preferred location and still had an almost 10 min walk to the lobby), we didn't like the offerings at Pepper Market (in fact, we got pretty sick the first night eating there), and just in general didn't have the Disney feel.

For this trip, we were thinking of either going back to POFQ or upgrading to the WL. Anyone stay at both and can offer an opinion?

Welcome to the boards! You're going to love it here!

I've never stayed at FW but I know several people who have, and they've loved the atmosphere and its proximity to the MK. I'm a huge POFQ fan. I stayed there for my honeymoon in 2009 and will be going back in October with my extended family. You can't beat the compact size and the festive environment! Either one would be a great pick!

Hello there and welcome to WDWFG, so glad you decided to come on in and join us, as far as I am concerned you just can't go wrong with WL it is so warm and inviting. Don't worry too much next Jan. will be here before you know it.

WELCOME!!! I've stayed at both. They are both wonderful resorts. If you have already stayed at POFQ and not yet at WL, then DEFINATELY try out WL. LOVE IT!!!! It feels like you are in Montana or Wyoming. The lobby itself is amazing with the huge fireplace, stream flowing through. It's a very peaceful/relaxing resort too. We stayed in the villas section and had a studio room. There was a small quiet pool right outside and hot tub. It was to die for! There are walking trails and the nightly electric water parade. The geyser is unique! The food at "Whispering Canyon" is excellent. They also have counter service at "Roaring Fork" that is good. You just can't go wrong! Highly recommend WL. You will NEVER want to leave! If you have the chance to stay at a deluxe resort, don't pass.

Here's the fan site if you want to check out the Wilderness Lodge:

I think both resorts are great, but I agree with Poppet that if you have stayed at POFQ you should try out WL. I certainly don't think you'll regret it, even if you decide that POFQ is more your taste for the future.

Also thanks for saying 'Hi!' We love getting to meet the lurkers!

welcome Clairenmn, glad you decided to pop in and say Hi! We haven't stayed at either, but plenty of people here have stayed at one or the other so I'm sure you can get all you're questions answered here.

Thanks everyone!!
I am leaning to WL if just for the new experience...

DH has said that we can go earlier than next Jan, but I want to see how much more of the Fantasy Land expansion is going to open up - I have my fingers crossed that we can get into Belle's castle for dinner!

Welcome to the boards! You are not the only one who plans a year out! I feel like we are constantly in a state of planning for our next WDW trip! Wink

I definitely would try WL! The site that Brad mentioned above is a great resource with lots of great pictures too!
