I don't have neighbours.. Tho I'am having fresh caught Mackeral strips in a piri piri sauce for tonight's dins..
Oooh, piri piri! I recently made the trek to the best supermarket in the region to stock up on a few exotic ingredients and got both ground piri piri and a bottle of piri piri sauce. Have not used them yet - last time I made piri piri (chicken) I had to approximate with cayenne and sriracha. So please, Mr. Watchmaker, let me know how your mackerel turns out. It will serve as an incentive for me to break out the new spices and get cooking.

Cheers..Was better than I expected..Piri Piri sauce comes in various heat sources...I just put a drop on my finger and taste..I've had a bottle once in Portugal given to me by a local chef..Wow!

My bottle of piri piri sauce says "medium," so it shouldn't be TOO hot. And I think I also would prefer it with chicken. Mmmm...maybe I need to go buy some chicken.
DH and I just aren't into the spicey hot types of food because they come back to really ruin the rest of the day (DH actually takes meds) and since we only have two days at Epcot to enjoy, I am watching for the ones that aren't too spicey and we will probably skip the snails.
I looked at the cookbook and wondered how long before the recipes will be on one of the sites? I bought all the cookbooks at one time and then found all the recipes we love were free to download....

Reviving this thread..Just read a review from Terra at this years F&W in epcot..The chicken dish and the Crabless crabcake looks awesome..If I were to choose my top three countries in the festival..Then Terra is in the top three..Along with Patagonia and Brazil....What are your top three countries..?

My top 3 countries in previous years have been.. Singapore (for the mahi mahi w/ singa sauce and my favorite Singapore Sling). Hawaii (all because of the tuna poke, I swear I dream of that dish) and the third would be a tie between Japan and France. I love love love both those styles of cuisine (plus sake and champagne) so its too hard to choose between the two. We'll see what happens this year with the changes to the escargot dish, the addition of the mushroom mac and cheese type dish in France and the new dishes in Japan..
But really its incredibly hard to narrow it down to 3 (okay 4). The beauty of food and wine is that there really is something for everyone at most of the booths 
Definitely not Terra. I'm fine with eating vegetarian or vegan, but I prefer the real thing instead of highly processed faux meat. If I want meat, I'll eat meat.
Top three...Definitely China, we always get some good stuff there, and usually everything on the menu is tasty. Hawaii, based solely on the tuna poke, which I adore. After that it's hard to say...many of my favorite items aren't on this year's menu, and I don't want to commit to something that's new this year until I've actually tried it. I guess I'll go with Morocco because I've always found the food at that booth to be tasty, and even if this year's savory items disappoint, there's always the baklava.
Since this is our first food and wine I am going only based on what we have picked to try so far...
France, Brazil and Mexico are all tied with the most items to try... I can get amazing Mexican at one of our local spots but Sangria, Tequila and that Sweet Corn Cheesecake are calling my name.
Japan and Hawaii are also very high on my list because of specific items. No, not just the Sake although that is a huge draw for me. The Chitashuzushi at Japan and the Poke at Hawaii.... And SAKE

Germany is our favorite booth. The beer flight is good, the brats are yummy. In China, picked up the Tipsy Ducks in Love drink with coffee, chocolate, and Jim Beam. Very good! and strong! Dessert booth picked up the trio. It was a cupcake, chocolate mousse, and a cherry dessert. They were a good amount for the money. Mexican booth is always good, too!

Don't forget that Oktoberfest starts this weekend and runs for the next two weeks, so grab you a few steins of beer and a bratwurst with pretzel and enjoy the F&W festival.
Just returned and husband said the lamb at Australia and duck in a flat wrap sandwich (forgot place) was wonderful.
We had rain...pouring rain the first day of 2 there, so we ended up inside at the new Morocco place and it was very good. We could watch Illuminations there if we wanted. Very nice staff too.
DH and friend tried many of the beers but came to the conclusion that even the craft beers weren't that great as Wisconsin has a well-established heritage of craft beers. So, for them Scotland and Germany were the top winners. My GF had a couple of nice dry wines (harder to find). I tried a wine flight near Germany but they were all sweet Reislings and such. If you're drinking be aware it can creep up on you fast so eat along the way. We saw many young people later in the evening who were very loud and obviously "enjoying" the alcoholic offerings.
Just a heads up if you are using your DDP credits! Just because it says it's on the plan, it may take many credits to get it. We stopped one place to get chicken in a Marsala sauce and it was FOUR snack credits each. When you start with 6 each, you are pretty much out of pocket fast.

Seriously? FOUR snack credits per person for ONE chicken Marsala? That's awful. Better to just pay out of pocket and get your snacks elsewhere.
Edited to add: and thanks for the warning about those German Rieslings. I wondered whether they would be sweet or dry, now I know not to bother with them.
Reviving yet again this F&W thread..Just been reading Debsallears poll done by Surveymonkey..It's ongoing but makes interesting reading..Scotlands haggis not doing too well ( wonder why lol ) but the Scallop is going down a treat..Ireland's Fisherman pie is getting good reviews and the Kerrygold dessert is sitting at 100%...Iam so glad these portions are small at each booth or I will be needing a serious diet meltdown.... 
I had the veggie haggis on my list of things to try until I saw a photo of it. Yeah, thanks but no thanks, that stuff looks nasty.
I've tasted veg haggis once..nah..
Nothing like the real stuff..If prepared properly it should be spicy and oatmeal taste..Always washed down with a few single malts..
I was excited about the haggis until I saw vegetarian part and then again when I "saw it".... I've heard tales of it and thought this is my chance to try it but alas, I think I will pass!

Thought I'd revive this thread topic again as this year F & W celebrates its 20th year...Who is all going to participate in this awesome festival.?...Must admit I loved the atmosphere of it last year and the aromas of different countries,especially Africa as I could smell the curry in the air..The only tip I learned was don't do it on a weekend as Epcot was like Hogmanay ( That's New Year ) ...It must have taken us 30 minutes to walk from Italy to Spaceship Earth...Hope to see lots of photos from those of you who are tasting your way round the globe..

Neither..It was vegetarian haggis...
...And believe it or not..I've yet to drink a whisky at Disney..Margaritas and Cocktails and Beer and Vino..lol..
My favourite memory for F&W was attending the late night event. I remember loving the white chocolate liqueur dole whip. For the life of me I can't remember what else I ate (the entry had a cocktail and 5 food items)
The best bit for me was the band, dance floor playing fun songs, I got talking to some lovely people and there was some good entertainment.
An awesome extra was I was one of the last 50-100 people to leave Epcot. The event used Canada to the main WS entrance so whe. We finished we had to walk through a deserted and closed park.
I would definitely recommend attending.
