I push people out of the way to get the good shots.
First of all, thank you very much, cdub. As for any special thing that I do, the answer is, no. I just snap what I see as being "interesting". I also tend to take more than just one shot. I take at least 2 or 3 shots of the same thing, and often, one of them will be the one that I like the most and keep.
This is true for the statues where I take wide shots and take closeup shots. And latter is where you might want to use the "close up" macro setting on your camera if you have one. Eventually, either by trial and error, or by accident, you end up with one shot that makes it worthwhile.

This was from a Flower and Garden Festival a few years ago.. But I still like it.
I actually have a similar picture to that from the F&GF in 2003. The difference being that this creature was not in the middle of the pond, but rather outside the railings right by the World Showcase lagoon at the China pavilion.
In fact, periodically throughout the day, the dragon would spew out steam from its mouth.

It's called "Monsters Inc. - Mike and Sully to the Rescue".
I rode it once, and didn't think it was all it was hyped to be. I was told that this ride is a lot better than what it replaced.
It is one of the reason DCA requires a lot of upgrade.

Yeah, at WDW it looks almost like an afterthought. Although I do love the part where you can look in from Pinnochio's.

I don't think there is. It's A Small World at DL is a stand-alone building, I think, and there's no restaurant/eating place connected to it.

In case anyone is interested, I did a visual tribute to DL's It's A Small World when it was announced that they were going to change it slightly by adding Disney characters into it during the last rehab.

it's great watching that on video because i can turn off the volume and avoid the singing. i never realized how much more expansive disney land's it's a small world is. did they just not want to take up as much room in disney world or what?

I think I was dissapointed because as a child you are in wonder and awe of everything, everything is magical and wonderful. I grew-up in Cali and moved to Fl about 10 yrs ago, before moving I hadn't been there in about 8 yrs so I was very young and went back as an adult. I would have rather have not gone back just so I could hold onto the memories of churros, mint juleps in new orleans sq. and captin e.o. and other things as well.. mostly they are all just the happy times as a child you don't want to let go of.

I think that makes a lot of sense. Disney changes a lot for people as they grow up, and I think that might especially be the case with Disneyland. Disneyland is huge to a little kid, but might seem small once you get older; Disney World is pretty much always ginormous, no matter your size.
It's also never fun to see any chinks in the armor of your childhood vacation spots. You gotta hold onto those simple times where everything was "wonderful and magical."
