Looking forward to it nik! Have a safe trip!
PS: teach me your tips on taking fireworks photos!
Love the pics, especially the red Mickey on the 2nd one.

Those are fantastic shots Nik. The fireworks shots are amazing!
Once again thanks for all the kind words.
I have a Canon XSI. My main tip for fireworks is have a tripod. I used a regular tripod for the Top of the World shot because I only had to go up the elevator. For Illuminations I used a gorilla pod wrapped around a railing.

I have been completely unable to get gorilla pods to be that stable. Do you have any recommendations for getting them stable?
I also have a regular tripod, a gorilla pod and a monopod, and I would rate the gorilla pod as unstable and I always wind up worrying about its ability to safely support my camera thus I rarely use it. I am also leery of having to lug around my regular tripod all around WDW, even though I have a sling type carrying case for it.

I had trouble until I got the SLRzoom model. It is heavier duty than the normal one. They actually have an even heavier one now, but I have been pleased with the one I have. I also always have my camera strap around my wrist just in case it does not hold.

Nik! Thanks for the amazing pictures and the great tips!
I've got a point and shoot gorilla pod, an SLR gorilla pod and a tripod, but I cannot figure out what the heck a monopod is! How does it stand up?!

Bali it is a 3 section adjustable height single leg support that your camera attaches to, it gives added stability to your camera, it does not stand alone and you have to support the camera with your hands.
I think SoloFriendly did a post about using one, Bali.
Monopods seem to be very popular with motorsports and wildlife photographers, they allow mobility, quick set up and help support the weight of a long (heavy) lens. I wouldn't think they are very good for fireworks shots though as it's still possible to move during a long exposure.

I can see the appeal. It's basically just like a "steady hand helper."
wowza!
I just spent about 3 hours looking through EVERY post in this thread! AMAZING stuff here guys!
It makes me want to start taking my camera to Disneyland again.. we go so often that I rarely take pics anymore. lol
but I do bring one with me to WDW.. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to post a couple here...
Looks like you got the hang of it DD, and they are great photos too. Love it.
I tried to follow the directions! did it work?
Oh yes. Nice pics.

Love the flower shot!
it's funny because this shot DID cause the "photography effect" that I read about on the other thread.. I guess I made such a spectacle of myself as I tried to get the picture, that other people decided.. "hey I want a pic of that too" so there might be very similar pics to this one out and about!
