Shanghai Disney Resort, the first Disney resort on mainland China, officially opened today after five years of construction. Fans around the world can check out the new resort tonight during the 'Grand Opening Celebration of Shanghai Disney Resort' airing on Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and Disney XD.
The telecast will air at 8 p.m. on all three networks, and then at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 17 on Freeform (formerly ABC Family).
The Grand Opening Celebration of Shanghai Disney Resort will feature Disney CEO Bob Iger, Mickey Mouse, nearly 3,000 distinguished guest, celebrities, and more. Disney Channel star Sofia Carson (Descendants) will narrate the special.
Pianist Lang Lang will perform a "custom arrangement" of 'Let It Go' and China's movie superstar Sun Li will also perform.
Shanghai Disney Resort covers 963 acres of land in the Pudong District of Shanghai. It features a theme park, two themed hotels, and a shopping complex. The resort cost around $5.5 billion to build.
Disney expects nearly 100,000 visitors each day.
