Rivers of Light, the new nighttime show at Disney's Animal Kingdom will make its debut on Earth Day, April 22. The show is set on the Discovery River in the park's Asia section. It marks the first nighttime show at the Animal Kingdom.
The Rivers of Light begins with the arrival of mystical hosts who come to the river bearing gifts of light. They will travel by lantern vessels as they summon the animal spirits. The show features four animal spirits: an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant, and Great Horned Owl.
The music for Rivers of Light was composed by film composer Don L. Harper and includes an original song by composer Mark Mancina. Filmmakers at Disneynature also worked on the show which features never-before-seen footage of animals.
The Disney Parks Blog is hosting an online chat about Rivers of Light on Tuesday, March 8 at 1:15 p.m. The chat will feature two of the show's creative team members who will be ready to answer guest questions about the show's themeing, technology, story, music, and more.
