D23, the Official Disney Fan Club, has a great line up of events planned for 2011. The club has a wide range of activities that is sure to please Disney fans of all ages, so mark your calendars now.
On January 29, there is a special preview screening planned of the new Disney Junior show "Jake and the Never Land Pirates." Two eleven minute episodes of the animated series will be shown at the preview, and star David Arquette, who provides the voice for Skulky, will be on hand with Disney Geek Jeff Epstein for a Q & A session.
May is a busy month for D23. D23's Great Scavenger Hunt is set to take place at Walt Disney World on May 12 and 13. All four theme parks will participate in this larger-than-life hunt as teams consisting of 2-4 players compete for some great prizes. Stay over for May 14 and 15 for Destination D: Walt Disney World 40th which will celebrate - what else? - the 40th anniversary of the happiest place on earth. This event, inspired by its Disneyland counterpart, will feature many panels and presentations. Stay tuned to D23's website for more details.
The west coast will get to share in the fun in late summer as the D23 Expo 2011 rolls into Anaheim, California from August 19 - 21. This "Ultimate Fan Event" is so big it only comes along every other year, so make plans now to soak up some California sun as well as some Disney magic.
D23 members will also get a chance to partake in what's become an annual fan and guest favorite during the Sip and Stroll weekend October 14 and 15. Eat and drink your way around Epcot during the popular Food & Wine Festival with fellow D23 members.
The holidays also get the D23 treatment on December 17 and 18. More details will be announced on this holiday kick-off event.
In addition, D23 will be planning a series of film screenings at the Burbank Lot throughout the year called 50 and Fabulous showcasing Disney classics that have been entertaining audiences for the past 50 years. Tickets, which are free (but do carry a $5 processing fee) for D23 members, can be had by a Fan Club member and one guest. The lineup is:
Also spaced throughout the year are the popular Walt Disney Studios and Archive Tours hosted by D23. Mark your calendar for one of the following dates: February 5, April 30, July 23 and November 5.
